Anyone know any courses that offer practice only memberships in North Scottsdale? I know Longbow did but way too far to go out in Mesa.

Stopped by today for a tour. The membership director didn't know this one, but said she'd follow up. Late in the day so I also didn't get a chance to head out on the course, but it looked to be in fantastic shape - would you agree? How would you categorize recent conditions and/or conditions since C-BIGG took over?

I'm definitely leaning toward joining.

It will be in great shape for the summer but it was perfection (for its price level) during the season. They’ve done a double punch and double seed over past few weeks and greens are rolling quick, but still seeded and sanded so a little bumpy for another week or so. They just did the big punch on the fairways a few days ago. There is an Arizona Open qualifier out there on July 6 and all signs point to it being prime condition by then. It’s impressive conditioning considering a short staff for summer coming off a shut down.
When you get out on the course around holes 6,7, you’ll realize where they need to spend the next round of money. They keep the playable portions (fairways, greens, tees) in great shape but they need to spend some money re-landscaping those 2 holes off the fairways. Thats the only “ugly” spot on the course. It doesn’t help that holes 6 and 7 are virtually identical and have older unrenovated homes lining those 2 fairways.

You're not kidding! TPC Scottsdale (Champions) had a good deal going before COVID - they were offering a prepaid card worth 10 buckets for $125 (normally each bucket / bag is $20). With COVID, they decided to switch to an "all day pass" arrangement for $40 or $45/day. They might switch back to the card offering once this is all over - whenever that is - so might make sense to keep an eye out for that, as well.

I do McDowell MT now it is 100 bucks for 11 bags of balls. Not the best or cheapest range but it is somewhat close to me.

What does $50-75k initiation and 10k a year in dues get you?

$10k/year in dues is tough. Think more like $13k and you’re talking a out Desert Forest, Troon CC, Desert Highlands, etc.

Not looking at anything specific but sounds like in that ball park you can get something pretty decent...10k v 13k in dues is splitting hairs at that price point.
