Fourteen FH1000 Spot a fake?

I’m kind of a fan of the brand but I am aware that the FH and the RM series are both heavily counterfeited on FHGate. Does anyone know how to spot a fake on these?

Guess I'm way out of the loop - take a few years off, everything changes - they counterfeit Fourteen clubs now?

It’s unfortunate. I check DHGate before I purchase any golf clubs to see what fake stuff is out there. I think with Fourteen they are making the older models which is kind of a clue. I guess it is possible that they are overruns or blems from Fourteen. Honestly Ive tried some of the fake grips on eBay and most of them have been great. On my gamers I have fake z cords and they weigh out less which let me get the swing weights up to D4 without any other adjustments. I suspect Ive been playing with a fake 58 degree Fourteen wedge but I cant say its any different than my authentic 52, and 60. The manufacturers really need to get on this and do some laser etching or something that can’t be copied.

To do something that can’t be copied would price equipment out of most people’s price range.

 

And what can they do that couldn’t be copied? These fakes are coming out of the same places that make real ones. They have all the tooling to do anything the name brand orders. Honestly, it’s surprising that poor fakes are even made. All their counterfeit stuff should be damn near spot on. The reason fakes can be spotted is because the counterfeiter is trying to increase their margins and keep their low costs even lower. If they’d spend a bit more, they’d get the same thing the big name brands get.

I've always wondered this. The clubs all come out of china anyway, so why do the fakes always suck and are easily noticeable?

Cost restraints (materials), quality control, tolerances, small inaccurate details. They’ll get there one day just like the handbag copies. But mostly they only care about looking like it since people get tricked by that and don’t know any better.
