Masters Degree Opportunities

What's up guys,

I'm currently a degree level student and resident in the UK and I was wondering what the opportunities in terms of playing for Colleges/Universities alongside doing a masters degree are in the US?

I am no expert on this, so here is a list of others opinions.

"According to the NCAA, Division II student-athletes have 10 semesters, or five years, of full-time enrollment at a university to compete in athletics. However, they only have four years of eligibility to participate in games, meets or matches against outside competition. When an athlete does not compete or is injured during a season, they are eligible to redshirt, or essentially extend their academic career into a fifth year to use all four years of their athletic eligibility. As Former Head Football Coach Bob Bartolomeo said, athletes have “five years to play four.”

I've managed to get a hold of some people and it seem's like I could do a masters degree in the US and represent the college/university on some sort of scholarship programme.

Aslong as I keep the academic side 'Rolling'.

Hi Kyle,

Yes, you have the opportunity to play a sport at the Graduate Student (Masters Degree) level as long as you haven't used up your eligibility during your undergrad. I would have to look into it more specifically if there are any restrictions on eligibility from a foreign university, if that would count against your allowable NCAA eligibility but on the surface, I believe you'd have the opportunity to play while earning your degree.

I have a Masters Degree in Sports Administration, it's been a while since I have practiced those skills and reviewed the NCAA guidelines though so definitely reach out to specific university Compliance Directors/coaches of programs you're interested in with questions and/or NCAA Clearinghouse.
