Long term Cleveland Frontline feedback?

Runas06

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I'm curious if anyone has any feedback on the Frontline putter after using it for several months?

Do you feel like their weighting strategy and face milling works as advertised?

I'm looking at a new putter, but need to stay on budget with a newborn and house purchase on the way... That has me zero'd in on Kirkland KS1 and Frontline. Frontline has intrigued me since it's launch, but most reviews I've seen were from initial launch opposed to any longer term feedback.

Thoughts?

Hi everyone,

Bumping the question - so apologies to the original question as this is not an answer as I'm after the same question.

Been a big fan of their putters since they came out with the HB's, and am contemplating their elevado putter. The local pro-shop has a pretty good deal on their HB soft model, but I'm curious about their frontline series.

So, any feedback is appreciated.

I reviewed the Frontline Cero for a rival website, you probably know the one. I'm sure that the "tech" does what its supposed to do, but if you hit most of your putts somewhere near the center of the club, the difference is negligible. This was my first time using a putter with a enlarged (therefore somewhat heavy) grip. The counterweight effect made the putterhead feel light, and I feel like my distance control suffered a but because of that. So I'm back to my 15+ year old Ping G5i. I don't have "bad" things to say about it, I had decent results, I think its just that the weight balance just wasn't great for me.

Cheers for that - found the review thread, and it was very informative. The HB soft is going for half the price of the frontline - might just try that instead. Never tried a mallet/high MOI putter as I use a Cleveland HB 2 (Odyssey 9 style) at the moment, and since my eyesight went off (am short sighted, and now need bifocals), my alignment has been off.

Thanks! Normally I would try them out before purchasing, but none of the physical shops here have them on display.

I also have the Elevado and quite happy with it. Very stable, plus the weighting feels great. Going on 4 months with it. Excellent putter for the price.

I found a powerbilt citation #3 Compared to cleveland frontline, elevado and ping sigma something. Similar design to elevado.

I ran like hell with the citation. Performance second to none and half the price of the cheapest cleveland. I did preferr the frontlines over the elevado though heacuer swing weight seem to work well for me but that was three times the price. You really dont get what you pay for with putters.

I've the Frontline nos 4.

Like many here, I've owned and used so many over the years. Scotties, Odysseys, Taylormade etc etc. In all honesty the performance from across the board has so many with near identical results. Why golfers flock to Scotty putters always amazes me.

I'm a decent flat stick user - the most reliable of my 10 handicap game. That said, I miss far too many 6'-15' putts as my putter head is just not stable enough (I can see it wobble on back swing).

Queue the Frontline, with forward weighting.

THIS PUTTER IS INCREDIBLE. The roll it imparts hugging the grass is quite special. Over the last dozen rounds I can't honestly recall missing anything under 5'or6'. The head seems to go back and through by itself... Hard to describe.

Everyone who's tried it has had similar results but, only 2 have bought one.

If it was twice the price and had SC on it, they'd fly off the shelf... Bizarre.

I am really impressed by the forward weighting of these putters and how it helps speed and accuracy. A lot of mallets, I sense too much weight in the rear of the putter on the backswing and I don’t care for it. Feels bulky and not smooth. Like a brick on a stick.

These Cleveland Frontline mallets solve that. They have 75 percent of the weight pushed forward. Some putters have sole weights near the front, but not like this. These Frontlines have

tungsten right in the toe and heel of the face. CG is very near the face. Feels and rolls like a blade, has the alignment help and look of a mallet. They truly putt like mallet versions of blade putters. Price is reduced on these — $149 new. I guess these are not as popular because the heads are cast. They do have a surface that milled insert.

If you like blades but could use the help of a small to mid mallet, or don’t like the “gear effect” and distance issues on long putts with a rear-weighted mallet, I would say give the Elevado or Cero a roll. They do not feel like typical mallets.

Bumping this thread.

Does anyone know the exact Lamkin Sink Fit Pistol grip that comes stock with the Frontline putters? Are they the rubber or poly versions?

I tried out one at my local outlet and the grip felt supurb, slightly different to some other Lamkin grips I've tried.

I absolutely loved the Mizuno Omoi M-Craft #3, but loved the grip on the Frontline putter of everything I tried.
