Best Round of My Life

Well, today was a great day. I was 9.8 handicap before today’s round and I have made huge strides since the whole quarantine started by practicing pretty much daily. Have tracked my scores for almost a year and went from a 14 to mid 9.5 in that time.

Anyway, today it all came together and I shot 4 over. Just burying filthy putts from all over the place. But played really great golf even with some bad luck. Now I’m at a 9.4 handicap and I’m just wondering if this can actually be a new thing for me. I feel like I could do it again. I’m just so giddy. I apologize.

Sounds awesome! Hot putting makes for fun rounds, but still means you are putting yourself in position.

Don’t expect to do it every round but try to remember all the things you did right. Now that you know you have a good enough swing to score well keep practicing so you can continue setting milestones. Keep in mind though the lower your handicap gets it becomes a lot harder to get it even lower. 14.5 to 9 is a great accomplishment and evidence of hard work. You’ll need to work harder to continue that trend but if you have the time and motivation it’s worth it. Sadly it takes a sustained effort to maintain that proficiency so don’t be discouraged if your handicap goes up and down like the pandemic stock market.

Thank you for the advice and knowledge. I played the same course today and shot 8 over. I wasn’t as focused today, it seemed. And not as many putts fell. You’re right about the proficiency. My game wasn’t as sharp today but it was still solid overall. I got two birdies with opportunities for more. But yea, i know there will be some rough patches coming. That’s just the way golf is. I’ll ride this heater for the time being and just keep grinding.
