Low Spin ball

Just completed a fitting at Club Champion and I spin the ball too much. Besides AVX any other low spin balls out there? Don’t mind if they are last years model

I have the same high spin issue and played the AVX for a while but switched to the Q Star Tour last year and am happy with it. It’s definitely higher launching than the AVX, but still very low spin compared to anything else with a urethane cover.

Deciding factor for me was the fact that QST (Gen 2) is about 1/3 the cost of AVX as they were often on sale last year and permanently on sale these days since the Gen 3 is out.

The X isn't low spin; some testing shows it as having one of the highest wedge spin rates on the market among premium balls. The "regular" V1 is marginally lower spinning, but I wouldn't call either of them low spin.

The -Pro V1X (left dash) is about the lowest spinning ball available right now.

Please don't take my word for it; here are links to the two most extensive ball tests I've ever seen. In all tests, the V1x spins more than not only the V1, but than almost any other premium ball on the market. In fact, in the Today's Golfer testing, the V1x had THE highest wedge spin rate of ANY ball tested, premium or not. Titleist doesn't market the X as being lower spin, and while I don't really know much about the left dash version (no testing yet) it's marketed as lower spin than the X; not low spin.

When the V1x came out, it was longer off the tee and lower spin than the V1, but those days are long gone. If the OP wants a premium ball with lower spin off irons, the two good candidates are the Snell MTB and the TP5x. IMO, the ProV1x is the best golf ball on the market if you take distance, spin, durability, dispersion all into account. But low spin it is definitely not. The TP5x, for instance, spins between 300 and 650 rpms less off a wedge than a V1x, depending on whose test you look at. The MTB is very similar to the TP5x in spin rates off of irons.

FWIW, the driver spin rates on all of these balls, and pretty much all premium balls, doesn't vary much at all on a percentage basis. So if the OP was told by Club Champion that his driver spin rates were too high, that's a swing thing and not a ball thing.

Reading comprehension is a skill. I said nothing about the standard Pro V1X, so all your links and data about comparisons of the standard V1X and other balls is irrelevant; I’m talking about tacos and you are talking about Plato (the philosopher, not the Spanish word for plate).

Every test I’ve come across, including my own testing, has concluded that the Left Dash is one of the lowest spinning balls out there.

That's great; can you give me a link to the testing you've seen of the left dash V1x? I haven't seen any yet, and Titleist doesn't market it that way, so I have nothing to go on except what Titleist says about it, which is that the left dash is a Tour tweak for about 15% of their Tour guys that spins less than the V1x with a similar launch. Titleist says that the left dash isn't as low spin as the AVX, but that's about all, and I can't find any numbers. (The AVX really might be the lowest spinning premium ball on the market, but the low launch is a limiting factor for a lot of players on that ball)

So IF, and I'm only guessing here, the left dash is in between the regular V1x and the AVX in wedge spin, it would be just about like the spin rate of either the TP5x or the Snell MTB. But that's just guesswork until the testing data comes out. Again, if you've got a link to any independent testing on the left dash, I'd love to see it.

The -Pro V1x is a special order Titleist ball that is not available off the shelf. It is a very different ball than the Pro V1x. It is very low spin and very firm. There are very few players it suits, which is why Titleist doesn't market it that heavily and it wasn't even available except to tour pro's until last year. The closest thing out there to it is the TP5x.

Thanks; the TP5x was my guess in my previous post for what the -ProV1x would be comparable to. I've read every bit of independent testing I can find, as well as what Titleist says, and I think the TP5x is probably a good comparison.

I'll take that a step farther and guess that the success of the TP5x was one of the things that pushed Titleist to make the -ProV1x available to the public at all. Amateurs like the TP5x because it tests out as either the longest or second longest ball on the market, and pros like it because it doesn't spin as much at their speeds. While I wouldn't really say that the spin rates are low, they are certainly lower than most of the other Tour level balls. The other ball that tests out comparably is the Snell MTB; similar spin rates, if a touch shorter off the driver.

Those are on wedge shots. The less expensive balls would prob spin more off driver and irons.

TP5X is low spin , I think. Because it goes like 10 yards further for me.
