Stripping black finish off wedges

Picked up 2 Vokey SM8 wedges in jet black. I am looking for a simple how to on stripping the black for faux raw head. I know the Vokey SM8 thread has information that touches on this but the information is buried through various pages. Hoping this thread could serve as a focused source on how to do this. Thanks

Soak them in white vinegar for a hour or so. Scrub with new green sos pads in a uniform direction. The black will come right off. Might need to do it a couple of times with fresh Vinegar to get the desired look. It will leave it with a dull gunmetal look at first and it will patina and change with time and use.

I just did this last night with my SM7 which I assume is the same finish

I soaked it overnight in coca cola and then with white vinegar, both times had very little success with getting any finish off even with scrubbing..maybe I was doing something wrong who knows. Bought some CLR and soaked it for an hour and it came right off with a little elbow grease from a green scotch brite pad. Some 500 grit wet/dry sandpaper and a shiny silver raw finish was achieved. Still a little darker than my RTX4 raw, and it looks like it will take a bit longer to actually start rusting up.

TLDR - for the SM7 black finish you're better off going with CLR to get a quicker result.
