Not if you're using 24hr epoxy. Make sure there is no play in the insert. Make sure you abrade both the inside of the shaft and the extension. If there is play, use some drywall mesh tape.

I'm scared to use those plastic ones on steel shafts. I admit there's no reason to be, but I try to use steel extensions on steel and I'll use the plastic ones on graphite

Plastic or graphite?    Most of the plastic ones I've run across are all crap and I'd stay away.

The universal graphite/CB ones like these are very good and work well regardless of whether you use them in steel or graphite.

Now, if you're extending a whole set, and some are steel and some are graphite,  they may effect the total weight and balance a bit differently.   Not sure how the weight differs from steel extensions.  Ideally you should weigh and compare the two types of extensions (after being cut to the desired length).

Stay away from the plastic extension, dont even use them for Tomato stics, they are CRAP with large letters. I used Mitchell tools and supplies, but the extensions they had for Graphite shafts is crap, so if thats the model, DONT use them at all. I tested them at full lenght in my CPM reader, the shaft STOPPED moving, they have "no flex", so anything longer than 2/8" in a graphite want be good, in steel shafts...dont even think of using them.

Like Stuart mention, there are some quality extensions made for graphite, and in the long end i would not worry to much of a weight drop, it makes your set slightly ascending wgt when done, i would worry more about what type of extension and that extensions flex properties, so its also a question of how long you need them to be.

You might consider to drop them, if we talk 0.5" inch, we dont really "need" what we consider to be "the right play length" in the long end, shorter want hurt, its in the short end we must prevent going too short. (experience from 3/8" sets with #3 irons that could be 0.75" shorter than standard, it only makes it easier to play if resistance is set right)

yes that's the ones Stew, A buddy has three I can use to finish. As far as the weight, as a plus handicap I am no where near good enough to feel that difference, lol

Yes Howard, 1/2 inch,. you think the graphite are okay in 3.4 and 5 irons, or just order the steel,

Then those aren't the ones Howard is worried about and they should work fine if you don't want to wait to order the steel extensions.

Not seem much actual testing between the real prosoft inserts and using some alternative material like backer rods.    Just recommend finding something with closed cell foam so it doesn't become a moisture collector.

No, i never tried that, only Sensicore inserts and dowels, but if vibrations is a issue like it is for my, go Graphite.
I played DG Sensicore (original, not inserts added to standard DG), and its slight improvement, but not a solver for folks like me who cant take the vibrations from steel shafts anymore. I cant used any tools who vibrates either, those days are gone, so im all graphite now, except for my 2 wedges.

The search is broken, but I did an experiment where I put an uncut plastic extension in a driver shaft. I used it for over a year, swinging at 111mph. Zero issues.

I'm trying to dig up the thread, but properly installed, there is nothing wrong with plastic extensions. Half the people commenting here haven't even used them, lol.
