X'ers...Heading to Sunriver resort and Bend.  Looking for any and all suggestions on Golf courses , Breweries, Best Food and Drink, and (from Locals) current course conditions. in the two areas we are staying.  We will be staying three days at Sunriver Resort playing 36 with Crosswater in rota each day.  I have to set up one round south of the portland airport in portland area, then two more in bend area.  Have heard Pronghorn Nicklaus and Tetherow mentioned a lot in past. I'm a 6 handicap and like Lager style beers (German/Pils/Belgian), my cousin is a 22 hdcp. and drinks the hoppier stuff.  Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.--Tipsy

Stop by Three Creeks Brewery on the way in, lots of good beers.

Pronghorn conditions are always great.

Terherow, love hate lol

imo you only need to play Crosswater once. Conditions should be good, though with a 22 handi you’re probably not playing the tips. The course will be boring

Everybody relax, I’m here

Was in Sunriver this past weekend but only played one round myself.  Friends played Crosswater, said conditions were great but both agreed it was somewhat of a boring track.  They played blue tees and were still having to lay up off the tee with 5 wood/hybrid on a lot of holes.  One played Meadows and said they enjoyed it just as much as Crosswater and conditions were good

Played Tetherow for the first time Sunday, perfect conditions and would say it is a must play.  Not a forgiving track at all though, I couldn't get anything going off the tee majority of the day and we were playing the black tees, needless to say I lost a lot of balls and shot an extremely high score.  Still fun though and the visuals of the course are really nice and like nothing else you will see in the Bend area.

Haven't heard conditions but another couple favorites of mine in the area is Juniper and Widgi Creek.  Widgi Creek is normally in pretty good shape but I haven't gotten over to play either this year.

Played Crosswater several times last year, only once from the white tees and agree those are far too short, and I'm not a long hitter.  Played from the blue tees the rest of the time and the course was much more interesting and didn't force you to leave the driver in the bag more than a couple times.   Also played Meadows and loved that one (it's a John Fought design, and has a lot of similarities to the Black Butte courses) and Woodlands (RTJ Jr) and liked that one too.

Heading over next week for three days on the unlimited golf package (which is a screaming good deal).  Hitting Tetherow on the way home, and it's been quite a while since I've played there, so I'm stoked to see that one again.  Last year we hit a freak cold snap and the temps didn't get above 40F the whole time.  This year, it'll be the other end of that spectrum.   Trip report will be forthcoming.

"take that, you miserable little white swine!"

I'm not sure where this heat came from, but it's going to be around a while.  Monday is my birthday and I'm thinking about playing on the coast to get away from the 101 they're predicting here.
