I was a low rent district beast, though, LOL.  First guy I met from GEA flew my tee shot by over 50 yds with a 3w,  using a Titleist Professional.  It gives a guy perspective.  🙂

And he wasn't the only one.  Or the longest local GEAer I met.

Must be the hockey up here.  Or all the Scandanavian ancestry.  LOL

I recall that story. Was the guy named Jesse? Longest player I ever played with was a former GEA guy. B10Steeple. Dude could simply smash it. He hit drives in some places that I've never seen anyone come close to. Putted the same way LOL! Not really but his putting held his scoring back.

That first guy went by ChipMan.  Was in computer chip design when I met him.  He used to roll his eyes whenever I'd bring up that 3w tee shot, LOL.  To be fair, it was one of those personal best moments, but he *did* regularly reach a short par 5 on another course with 2i/5i (962's).

Jesse was one of the guys I met later.  He's the longest dude I've ever met.  Came in third at a local long drive qualifier, using a 7.5* driver I had; he didn't have anything that was set up for that sort of thing.  Made one of the most amazing birdies I've ever seen, after popping up his tee shot on a 380 yd par 4.  Hit a 3w from 310+, landed on the green, stiffing it, and made the putt.  It was like watching a cartoon.

I remember B10Steeple.  Or at least I remember some of the stories. 😉  He used to come up in the chat quite a bit, but I can't quite remember if he would stop by himself.  You still play golf with him?

Gotta love those memory lane trips.  🙂

Speaking of memory lane...  I made an instagram account that I don't really use, but provides occasional entertainment.  One of the suggested follows that popped up was an ID that I'm fairly sure is Bart from GEA.  Don't know if you remember him, or if he'd drifted away before you joined the scene.

Love some of the old GEA outing get together stories. Some good times at multiple GEA golf outings. Met lots of great people at them. Including the GEA legend Brother Bill! Also was grouped with Kelly Green along with B10. Was a good time in that group. Vaguely recall Chip Man. Must of been fun to watch him and Jesse hit the ball like that.

Haven't been in touch with B10 and others I golfed with from the GEA in over 10+ years. Lost touch with many of them in 2009 or so. Seems like he really cut down on the gear forums around that time. Last time I golfed with B10 was 2008 during a round at local cc which was a prize from a scramble we had won with another GEAer that summer. He is a very successful attorney. Did see him on tv a few years back for a Pittsburgh tv station. The station holds a yearly fundraiser to buy winter jackets/clothing for the less fortunate in the Pittsburgh area.. He presented a check to the tv host from the law firm he worked at.

I knew of Bart a little. If I recall he was going to be some sort of a GI man? Wasn't he into driver face shaving way back in the GEA? Thought his nickname or signature contained the line face shaving is money. Of course I could easily have him confused for somebody else.
