Another Sprinklers Close to Green - Relief?

Are we not discussing a Local Rule? In our case it is to prevent players relief being a drop/place on the green.

Dropping on the green when taking relief from off the green is clearly forbidden in the Rules. What is the questionable part in the mentioned LR is that dropping from rough to fringe would not be allowed and IMO that cannot be as rough, fairway and fringe are all part of the General Area.

You are wrong.

Try to keep up with the conversation, Sui...

The Committee option is to limit the INVOKING of the LR in question. It DOES NOT say that if F-5 is in force you are not allowed to drop from rough to fringe. That is what we, well at least the rest of us, are talking about.

My take on this is that such a limitation is not according to the Rules as there is no distinction in the Rules between fringe and rough.

Bean, life would be so much easier if you admitted you were wrong.  Sui showed you a situation where there is a "distinction in the Rules between fringe and rough."  Here it is, on his behalf:

"The Committee may limit such relief to certain situations, such as only for particular holes or obstructions, or only when the ball and the obstruction are in part of the general area cut to fairway height or less."

That is a definitive distinction between the rough and the fringe.

Wrong again.  If your ball is in a PA, and one of the relief options has the relief area include part of the green, you may take relief by dropping on the green.  17.1d(3) for example.

I've found that nobody much cares about how much the referee knows about the Rules. However, they really, really care when the referee leads others astray. If the referee mounts the soapbox, they better be right. 😉

Knowledge of the Rules is part of the applied skill set which a player must use to play competitive golf.

I bet you are proud of yourself taking the discussion away from the issue at hand. Had you bothered to refrain yourself within the concept you would not have thrown in such a comment not only having nothing to do with my original comment but only having the purpose of trying to insult me.

The issue was about taking a free relief from an immovable obstruction by the putting green and what the LR F-5 allows and does not allow. Somehow you took that out of the context and for two possible reasons: for an insult or being plain stupid.

Grow up, Sawgrass!

Nice, Sui. You were completely in the woods and now you do not have the decency to admit it. Well done.

So, do show me the text in the Rules where the Committee may restrict the dropping area not to be of different height of cut. That is what this discussion has been all about. But of course you could not understand that as you did not read all the posts but decided to attack against me. Pathetic.

I am waiting for the text...

Grow up, Sawgrass!

I'll tell you what:  Stop saying things that are untrue and I'll stop correcting you.

And by the way, I don't think pointing out your errors is insulting you.  Though I acknowledge that you seem to take it that way.

Have to tuck in now but expect to see that text by morning, Sawgrass.
