You are comparing apples and oranges. 

 

Newport is a head shape. You can argue that 009 is a more refined shape of Newport. 

 

Oil can is a type of finish. It is brown-ish color.

Most of the Cameron Newport model  Oil Can putters produced were of 330 gram head weight. There have been some 330 gram 009's produced, and some of 340 grams, but most of the 009's were made with 350 gram head weights.

The Newport and 009 are completely different head designs.

The oil can Newport and 009 have a  different headshape. The 009 is handshaped with the bumpers being hand shaped, the top line is flat and is really based off the original ping daleheads of the mid 60s. The oil can Newport if viewed from behind the cavity you will notice the sloping lines above the bumpers as opposed to on the 009 they are parallel with the 009 top line. I prefer the original handshaped 009 Vs the more recent 009m putters that are all milled machined programmed

Get yourself a Mil-Spec 340 or 350 gram and you have an 009 for several thousand dollars less.
