The reason I say softest shaft is that you mentioned the Mizunos and only being able to fade them. I’d wager decent money the shafts were too stout and your ‘course swing’ wasn’t the fitting bay grooved get it out there swing. They could easily have been the right clubhead with the wrong shaft!

One thing the thread starter didn't mention was weather he played the JPX Tour he tried was in standard lie.  Mizuno are known for being a degree or two flatter than other manufacturers, possibly causing a fade if you need to be more upright.

Just read this entire discussion because I was curious. Lots of interesting advice being given to you. However, what EVERYONE failed to mention as a possible cause of why you are having such a difficult transition from your fittings to the course…the mental aspect. With all due respect, maybe the problem is between your ears? You are completely overthinking this and spending WAY too much money tinkering. Confidence is a huge factor in playing well. If you are constantly searching for something better, that will lead to doubt. Doubt will lead you to the dark side. My advice, work with a PGA certified teaching pro vs someone who just does fittings. Big difference!

Good luck!

Whoa. This technology is pretty amazing. I’m a firearms enthusiast, and had never heard of it.

Amazing just doesn't hit the mark.   I watched a guy with NO shooting skills hit an 8" center 1" off at 400yds.

I went from a set of Ping E1's to the Mizuno JPX 919 Hot Metal Pro's and love them.  Very similar profile to the E1's, a CAST players iron that verges on a Game Improvement iron.  Only thing I noticed is I went from a 10 yard gap between clubs to a 12 yard gap as the Mizuno's were a bit longer in the long irons and a bit shorter in the short irons.  This is common in newer clubs as in order to get the stronger lofts at the 7i, they have to introduce 5* between clubs below that to keep the PW at an acceptable level.

Seems like the new clubs you tried are all forged, but the E1's are cast, and there are not many cast players irons out there.  Forged might feel better and give you better distance control, but are generally not as long as cast clubs, which could partly account of the lack of distance you are seeing on new clubs.

Like someone said earlier, Mizuno's run flatter than most other clubs, so that could partly account for the fades you saw with the JPX Tours.  Also, those JPX Tour irons are more similar to the Ping S-range, so a harder club to hit over all.  Might take a 2nd look at Mizuno, but look at either their Forged or Hot Metal Pro, which are very similar in size and offset.  The forged falls into the standard players iron category while the HMP's fall into the new players distance category.  Don't count out other GI irons as there has been a general trend to reduce their size and offset, so the Ping G425 might be closer in size to the E1's than you would expect.
