Love my Cards and these were the best away unis in all of baseball!

Myself and a friend went up to Olympic Stadium for an early-week Expos/Cards tilt in the mid 80's.  Not a huge crowd (quel surprise) and we stayed until the end.  We filed out, made it down to the Metro (Montreal's subway) stop and as the door was closing, Willie McGee and Vince Coleman sprinted into our car.  I know they were very fast on the field and obviously very quick off-field also as it must have been a splash and go post-game shower.  Downtown Montreal clubs were awaiting and they anxious to get there!  I doubt it was a smoked meat sandwich or some poutine calling them...more like Cinnamon, Diamond or Giselle...

I have so many fine memories of attending Cardinals games in Budweiser's home town at Busch Memorial. 🍺 

If I wasn't at the game I was often tuning into Jack Buck with the Cardinals call on KMOX AM radio.

Last Tuesday was long overdue. It had been many a moon since I hosted Stan at BFCC. It is much tougher to get him a round in where I work compared to him getting me out at CCA. We got our 18 in and then we played a bonus 9 with an assistant pro. The original 18 is what mattered. It was home field advantage big time for LP. 

 66* and partly cloudy with only winds of 5-10. After 20 minutes on the range we smacked our first Titleists off number one at 1:15. I finally had a round where I found some consistency and steadiness. I did not take a high number. I made zero birdies, but also zero doubles or worse. I did not three whack once and I putted decent all afternoon. I took care of business and beat the S man by two strokes. I had 12 pars and 6 bogeys on the day. I shot 76. I have gotten to the range a few times over the last two weeks and that has helped my recent ball striking. My much improved putting has also helped a bunch to lower scores. Happy to report that my ninth round of the year featured my lowest score of the season thus far. ⚡

Yesterday I went down to Landrum, Lindsayland with gobs of confidence coming off my lowest round of the year last week. Due to the rainy weekend in these parts we were greeted with cart path only and a somewhat wet golf course. The retire's down there don't do cart path only so the course was empty. We played a 5some. Things felt good on the range and putting green during my warm up.

Straight sunshine with nary a cloud to be seen. There was just light breeze and the temperature hit 66*. At high noon Mike, Rick, Erik, Stan and I sent our first drives into the azure sky. 

I hit a strong center cut drive on number one. I had 134 in. I pulled 8 iron. I hit the short iron a little heavy and much mud flew up directly into my right eye and pain immediately followed. Following the unfortunate mishap I frequently flushed my eye with my bottled water a good many times but was still experiencing discomfort.  Three straight bogey's to start. I could not find any rhythm and my timing was off all round long.  Really the only facet that was decent all day was my driving. I chunked two in the water, I only hit 4 greens, I three putted three times, and I hit continuous poor chips and pitches. I finished DFL. Stan and Mike tied for the win with 79's. The old blonde man made a par on the last hole and carded a 90. So much for the confidence I started with. Golf keeps you humble. 

This afternoon I will have a chance to turn it around and play more like I am capable of.  At 2 pm my game is at CC of A. I expect to do better, but if my performance is anything like yesterday I might sniff triple digits playing that much more difficult golf course. 😅
