spalding Greg Norman blades

Oh yep those are the crossovers until the MacCobras when Norman still had a Spalding contract. Note the diamonds in the face turned different from Macgregors. I had a set of them good hitting irons. I bought mine on a deal but to be honest I never liked Greg Norman. I did not hit them bad per say but I hit my Macs better so I flipped them for a profit.

Nope.  These are the budget line clubs.  The Tour Editions (not the cast ones) were the proline clubs.

Where did you get your info on that? Not wanting to argue just curious. I was thinking they were Pro Line 80s clubs

Cast irons and the whole set including the metal woods sold for about $499.  The light weight steel shafts were of dubious lineage.

Ok cool I stand corrected. I do know the set I had ( bought at a storage building sale) had S-300s and Crown Cord grips and were pristine. Like I said I hit them decent and they felt good as I remember but I was not in love with them. Cleaned them up and put in the shop and sold them.

Was already working in pro-shops in that era.  There were two "Pro-line" Tour Editions:

Forged image.png.ca2528e36b8dad68827cc950fa0967f7.png  & Cast (there were a couple of iterations of this line) image.png.dda7e6fd8d1f01ae58a7858ac273ff01.png

and outside of that was the OP's set available at retail.  Not only were the TE forged irons small, but the persimmon fwy woods were tiny.  If you were a "player" in that time, you had to have that set.  My pro co-worker had them.  I was emasculated with my old FG-17's.

Before even buying them, I knew I was not in front of a "Holy Grail". I prefer my Muirfields (3-pw) and Muirfield 20th (2-pw) all day long. I also have some MacGregor MT´s. But they looked just fine, with that tiny driver and fwy woods and the Norman Signature. Anyways I bought them just for the Spalding TPM7 Putter that came with them.

I'm currently playing TE Custom Crafted set. The irons fit my eye beautifully and the woods are truly easy to hit. Foozle showed us the 5 wood which snuggles in behind the ball at address. Btw the SW in the set is a belter around the greens as well. I didn't get a PW with the set so am still relying on an old button back Fluid Feel PW with a modern shaft.

We had a set of Top Flites at the shop similar to the CB TEs you posted. In fact those belonged to Dana Quigly and had a set of Aldila Tour only graphites as stiff as a telephone pole. Also had huge built up Neuman wrapped grips. I was in my late 40s then and still in good shape and was hitting like Brunswick stiff steel in my irons. I could not hit those things to save my life. Later on met Dana and he was in his 60s then and he was as trim and strong as a Bull. Damn near broke my hand shaking it. Him and my late partner Big John were friends from way back. Actually Dana asked if I could hit them? I told him no that I tried. In fact if I could have he was going to give them to me free. I do not honestly remember if Big John sold those or Dana got them back

I'm not sure they were even that expensive.  More like $249.  They sold them at K-Mart.

That doesn't mean they were bad clubs at all, but definitely not pro-line.

K-Mart did carry some of the pro-line Spalding clubs that were on closeout at the time, like the Cannon, XL4 and Executive models.  I visited them on a regular basis while my wife did her shopping.

They 11 pc. set  cost that much here in Canada.  At one point the Executive was the best selling iron worldwide closely beating the Lynx Master circa 1978-79.

The Executive was available from 1977 to at least 1991.  It has to be one of the best sellers of all time.  A run like that is unheard of today.  I know I've seen more of them in the thrifts than any other model, although sadly thrift store finds are not what they used to be.  I figured more of them were going to Ebay, but with the US Postal Service's recent inclusion of a $15 surcharge on any box longer than 30 inches I'm thinking we might see a resurgence of clubs at the thrifts.
