Today is transplant day!!!!

I AM about to head over to the hospital, surgery was changed from 830 to 600 am.

It has been 5 years of pure hell, but today is the day I am given my life back for to the love and generosity of my friend Brad.

 I hope none of you or your loved ones have to go through this. I mean this with all of my being, if any of y’all ever have to do this, I am happy to visit with you and share everything I dealt with and whatever I can do to help someone survive this and get through it.

Thanks for The support and I’ll see you guys in about a week.

 

 My donor is the guy in the hat, he is literally saving my life.  If you want to see a hero, you’re looking at mine.

Transplant was a 100% success.  Am in a lot of pain, but feel great at the same time.  My donor is already up and mobile and will be discharged tomorrow.  I can already tell the difference, the brain fog is gone, and despite the morphine, am feeling more energy than before.

 

I am going to be home in about a month, no swinging a club for 8 weeks…so I will plan on rebu8ldi g two sets of irons for vintage play, as well as establishing a Persimmon and blades league for our club.

Delighted to hear it went well. Huge respect to Brad, he has done something truly remarkable. Take it easy, obay the Doc's, play well when the time comes and of course, send pics of the iron rebuilds!

Dude, I'm glad to hear you're doing well.  Be careful in your recovery, he says in a needlessly parental mode.

Man, I cannot even tell you how good I feel.  It is like I don’t even recognize who I was the last 5 years.  
 

my brain is clear for the first time..I had no idea the cognitive issues this was causing me, I was literally doing all this wjth half a brain.

 

fatigue is GONE, and it is like my body is whole again…I feel like the old me died and was reborn.

 

I got my meds started that Inwill take for life…no big deal after doing dialysis.

 

I’ve got a hell of a story to tell, cancer 3 times, total loss of kidneys, almost died from a PE, had the OG COVID, almost died during the winter storm in Texas, survived to get a transplant from a friend …and more adventures that is the thumbnail version.

 

I should write a book.
