Not that clubs are irreplaceable, but for those of us who aren't club ho's, building a set that you like and trust takes time.  I would be so pissed if that guy had gotten away with my set.  Getting a set just the way you want it is a long process most of the time.  I have the items (shafts and heads to replace my irons), but a driver that you trust is like gold.  Same with the putter.

 

Guys who steal golf equipment should be tied to a pole at a tee box with a sign stating they are a thief and let everyone take a whack.  A good wedge to the shins would satisfy me.

If i went through every bag at my club i'd bet 99% of them are under 5K

I used to deal with these scammers coming into Golf Town to get a quote on replacing "stolen" equipment.  Invariably the bag in question would have:

 

- all current model T.Made, Callaway, Titleist or Ping woods, irons and wedges

 

- a Scotty Cameron putter

 

- the matching Tour bag or an expensive Sun Moutain C-130 cart bag

 

- two dozen Pro V1 balls

 

- a high end Gortex rain suit.

 

- 3-4 Titleist Tour gloves

 

- a $700 Leupold range finder 

 

- a $350 pair of Foot Joy or ECCO shoes

 

-a $60 hat from Titlest, Hugo Boss or somesuch

 

Often when I asked which model of each gear type they owned, the mumbling and lack of eye content would begin.  Proof of purchase, what's that?

Your average non-MTLjeff golf bag will feature many things that are years old.

I have an insurance rider on my homeowner's policy for my clubs.  It's less than $75 a year and I believe I have $6,000 in coverage should my clubs get stolen.
