Asics Shoes???? Anybody comment on water proofing?

My feet hurt after every round and I've been through almost a dozen golf shoes trying to find a good fit but to no avail, Last couple rounds I just wore my oncloud runners. So as a compromise to wearing runners I figured these Asics with a treaded bottom would do.

 

Has anybody noticed the reliability of the water proofing? comfort after 18 holes?

I had a pair of the Gel Course BOA.  Liked the look and were well made, but too narrow for my feet.  I really wish Asics would make a wide option like they do with their running shoes.  As for waterproofing, they are fine unless water gets on the top.  It does have some mess to allow them to breath, so water can get in that way.  I would assume the Gel Ace Pro M would be a better choice if waterproof is a top priority.

Gel Course Duo BOA are fine from a waterproof perspective, at least as much as any golf shoe can be.  Have had multiple pairs of them and they have all been fine.

I have two pairs of the Kayanos, and haven’t noticed any issues with waterproofing when I walk early am rounds with heavy dew.  I haven’t used them in the rain; I go to a pair of black Goretex Eccos then, but it’s to try to keep the ASICS looking good more than it is worries about water.

 

I love the shoes; best I’ve ever had for walking, and i loved my Eccos.  I ran in Kayanos for many, many years; it’s just a great shoe.

Great! Sounds like they would be much easier on my feet. Were they wide/narrow? Coming from ONclouds that run a tad big

ASICS are cut wide across the two box, much like Ecco has tended to be.  If you’ve ever worn ASICS running shoes, these are exactly the same cut.  In fact, the Cleveland-Srixon rep during a demo day at my club told me that the golf Kayano is the same shoe as the running Kayano, with some added stability and a golf specific sole pattern.  (Cleveland-Srixon is repping the ASICS golf shoes to retail vendors in the US; I bought mine directly from the ASICS golf website.)

And the Gel Course Duo BOA are the most comfortable golf shoes I've ever worn.  If the BOA system works for you, they are great shoes.

i was walking around a proshop this past summer and they had some Gel Course Duo. It was a little stiff feeling for me. Like the shoe was not comforming to my feet like a sneaker would.

 

Are the Kayano's the same way ?? I like softer feeling golf shoes.

I am a weekend dewsweeper as part of the 1st group off at our club, so it is always wet from the dew and overnight watering.   Never had any issues with the Gel Kayano in terms of water getting through.   Best walking golf shoe for my feet that I've ever worn.   I wouldn't wear anything else now.   I will say that another guy that plays in the group behind me likes ASICS too, but he wears the cheaper versions that have the full mesh and occasionally he has complained of the mesh allowing some in.

I have been wearing the Gel Ace Pro M since mid summer.  Last weekend was the first time I noticed any wetness but the course was quite wet.  My toes were hurting/getting messed up in the footjoy hyperflex BOA.  Before that I had the FJ tour x and those began leaking badly.  After making the switch I've had no problems walking 18, they are very comfortable.

Agreed.  No issues with waterproofing, either.
