Is this special or no?

The name on the ferrule is Marty Furgol, a five time PGA winner.

An eBay search suggests that these putters don't have a lot of value. There seem to be a few different golf plated models, but they were priced for next to nothing on the 'bay.

But if you can make putts with it, then it's a different matter.

@swingingk

F6 is still pretty crazy. I've a Wilson SW that's around E5, and it feels really heavy in the swing. It's nearly 20g heavier than my modern set sand wedge (490g compared to 471), but the 10 or 11 point difference in swing weight really makes itself down during the take back and at the top of the backswing.

I win!!  Lol...   This bad boy comes in at 519g.  It's a beast.  It feels like I'm swinging an anvil.  I swear it'll chop through a tree root and still pop the ball up onto the green.  That's about all it can do though and unless I've got a tree root to plough through it's too heavy for normal play.  It's this kind of thing that makes me love oddball vintage irons - it's weird and wonderful at the same time...  😁

Yep. That E5-ish sand wedge doesn't see a ton of bag time. It's good in sand and for little pitches, but anything even approaching a full swing is a problem. I do play it, but I have other sand wedges I prefer.

changed SW to sand wedge, because when we're talking about swing weight and sand wedges, the "SW" abbreviation can get a bit confusing...

Ah yes... and there's the rub.  At times we admirers of vintage iron will tend to keep something based purely on looks or simple interest as opposed to playability.  We understand that some clubs aren't particularly collectable in terms of monetary value or usefulness on the course but are attracted to them just the same and so keep them for our own personal pleasure.  I see nothing wrong with this as long as it brings us some kind of satisfaction.  This to me is the essence of collecting - personal satisfaction.

Ok so I found it.  Not trying to jack this thread but I found the ferrule to be interestingly similar so I thought I would post some pics.  I'd guess the two clubs to be of like vintage because of it.  I checked the swingweight and it isn't G5 but it is F6 which is still rather crazy.  It's a strange bit of iron with its wide sole and oddball "Correcta Grip" but I liked it enough to clean it up and re-apply some paintfill.  Note that the face grooves are bordered with tiny little thunderbirds like is shown on the end of the grip.  Pretty neat bit of detail and a cool vintage piece all around.

That thing is a beast! 😂 Thanks for sharing, makes me wonder how many clubs like this I’ve passed on that could have been valuable to guys like us 😉😄

Here's a couple of links related to the Northwestern company and their equipment.  The first one is a very nostalgic wrx thread that is fun to read.  The second is an article on the company itself.  Interesting stuff.  Seems they were the big cheese in budget starter sets back in the day.
