Golf Side Hustles

Looking to add a golf side hustle. Something independent and self-sufficient to do during the week after work, or during the weekend, in a perfect world taking less than 8 hours per week. Any suggestions? Here are a few ideas:

  • Becoming a PGA Teaching Professional- I understand what it takes to become certified but is it even realistic to teach working so few hours? Can you even do it without being certified?
  • Create an app for finding golf partners- ie Tinder for golf partners
  • Etsy shop for golf accessories with cool designs like towels or headcovers- I have cool ideas but zero applicable design/manufacturing skills
  • Content creation - ie social media or podcast, fun/humorous content on everything golf- equipment reviews, trick shots, wagers with friends, course reviews, course food reviews, Tour talk, Tour impersonations, swing tips
  • Write a TV script for a golf sitcom/drama and hope a streaming service likes it (longshot lol idk)

Any other suggestions? Yeah my ideas are all so random and differing lol...

  • TaylorMade Stealth+ 9 deg, Fujikura Ventus Black 7X
  • Callaway Paradym 3w Fujikura Ventus Blue TR 8X
  • TaylorMade Tour Preferred UDI 2i DG Tour Issue X100

OR

TaylorMade M2 '17 19 deg Project X HZRDUS Black Handcrafted 6.5

  • Srixon Z785 4-PW DG Tour Issue X100
  • Titleist Vokey SM8 Jet Black 50.08 F, 56.10 S, 62.08 M
  • Scotty Cameron Select GoLo 2012

Sadly, yes you can become a golf "Pro" without much effort. I am not talking PGA pro, but there are a number of online and other certifications you can get. I don't know how valid these are, but I know a USGTF pro. Did not take him long to get the certification and he has no problem finding students. He is actually pretty good.

I guess the other questions is what skill set do you have? As you can take that into the golf world.

Every county in the USA has some guy who only breaks 80 four times a summer but still gives golf lessons.

Sometimes they give golf clinics in a city park that has no connected golf course. They don't charge a lot, and have a few customers come back for second lessons.  These yoda instructors provide a benefit: They show people how to grip a club, the basics of the swing, and how to chip and putt. The alternative: people who have never been on a golf course grab a bag of clubs and tee of in front of you on Saturday. This locks you into a 6-hour round even though they quit on the 14th hole.

A slightly more accomplished group is former college or accomplished amateur golfers who have a teaching game plan beyond the basics. If you are one of these, you would need to cut a deal with local golf course/driving range so that you can give lessons on their facility.

And, if you want a side hustle for the good of society, rather than increa$ing your finances, volunteer with the local First Tee program.

Let's not confuse being a good golfer with being a good golf instructor. Some of the best teaching pro's in the world can no longer break 80.

Best side hustle if you are talking 8 hours a week is work as an ambassador telling slow groups to speed up and you get a free round of golf a week 😂😂
