Ball recommendations!

Here are my 100 yd, stock 7iron and driver numbers with a prov1 RCT ball.

 

I play a rotation of 4 courses in town, 2 bent and 2 bermuda. The 2 bermuda during the summer can get pretty firm and slick, a true 12.5-13. 
 

currently play a prov1, would you recommend a different type of ball?

As long as your irons are landing with like 46* or more of descent, it seems fine. If you find things running out a ton on greens, then use a higher spinning ball like a BXS.

With a PW, virtually any tour level ball will provide adequate spin, and the difference between total distances is typically both very small and totally irrelevant. The only balls that produce substantially different results are similar to a SuperSoft or BRX, where the losses in other areas overwhelm the irrelevant “gains” in distance.

 

With driver, I generally follow Titleist’s recommendation, which is to tune the driver to the ball that gives the best results for your irons.

 

For irons, particularly for short to mid irons, your goal is to balance total distance with stopping power. As loft goes down, the difference between carry and total distance obviously goes up. At some point, you loose the ability to have any reasonable chance to hold greens. Your goal is to maintain that ability over the longest possible distance.

 

At 100mph driver SS, to some degree I “need” distance, and am willing to trade off stopping power to get it. For me, with a V1x, I have a 7 yard roll distance with 7 iron at 165 yard total, and I consider that close to optimal. An unfortunately high percentage of players with SGI irons and very low compression balls can’t get that roll with a 9 iron, which to me is a huge, and unnecessary disadvantage.

 

For you, you’re not showing the relevant information (max height, landing angle, roll distance) as @z1ggy alluded to.

Try Ping Balnamic and enter your launch monitor numbers. That will help you find the best performing ball based on your personal preferences.

Frankly, the only “thing” that’s apparent in these numbers is that your iron max heights and landing angles are a bit higher than necessary for maximum distance. The ball that’s about the best at combating that is at least arguably the V1. At least IMO you’re very unlikely to find a substantive improvement.

If your goal is a less expensive option, the Vice Pro. Your numbers are so well centered that the difference between those models will have little to no effect on actual scoring.
