A Taylormade fitter told me that if you loft it all the way down and move the weight as far forward as possible, it basically creates a rocket 3. I guess that was his way of saying it wouldn't be released in retail but he was pretty confident that it was effectively the same thing. BTW, this was at The Kingdom, not at a fitting event or a retailer.

I get that but here’s the issue. If I loft it down, it’s going to open the face a little bit. I’d like to keep the face as  square as possible even a little bit shut and use it like a 2 wood because I get a little Squirrley with the driver sometimes. Having a 3 wood that fades a lot is not what I’m looking for. These companies never cease to amaze me. the last version of the stealth they sold a ton of 13.5 heads. It’s like Callaway a lot of guys on their staff use subzero type seven woods yet they’ve never released one or Titleist how many guys on tour use the 21° TS2 7 wood? Why not offer a ts3 7 wood?

For what it's worth, I saw my rep yesterday and hit it again at 15 degrees with the weight all the way forward and it is an absolute rocket launcher. Ball speed was only like 7mph less than the driver. I carried one 262 off the deck in the simulator. It's kinda cliche but a 13.5 might be TOO hot, haha.

second this. Honestly you should demo it and just see if it stacks up to your current rocket. I was seeing some ridiculous ball speeds and low spin weight forward.

im in the other boat in wishing they’d release a 16.5 4 wood.

There’s one on tour at least. Can always scoop off eBay at some point!

Try the weight all the way back and a 5 wood shaft in a 15⁰ head 😉

I'm obviously a TM fan looking at my bag, but this feels like a way for TM to cut manufacturing costs (without passing savings onto us) and covering it up with the "look at this super customizable club you have now".  I'd personally rather be able to buy the head I want, be it 13, 15 16.5 ect, but that's just me.

Id wager that theres very few people who actually benefit from and use the 13.5 rocket model. Sure - there's a bunch of users on here due to the demographic - but the low spin and low loft nature of that head just makes it stupid to mass produce and they probably saw that in their sales/fitting data.

Almost all of the OEMs did a little bit of shuffling this year in their fairway lines as to what went to retail and what stayed as tour only.

Yeah you're spot on, if there was money to be made, TM would be making the head.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
