Northeast Florida golfers

I just moved to Palm Coast over the summer of 2022. I was hoping for a more active regional Florida group as the one I left in Colorado. Be that as it may I am hoping GolfWRX members chime in here to meet up and play some golf.

Big reason my wife and I moved here. I’m guessing you don’t want to hear I played a course near Daytona Beach last Sunday and it was around 80 at 1:30 when the round ended. 😁

Man, does 80 sound good. Right now 50 would be wonderful. We need at least a week of it to melt the snow. Played nine holes the first of December, at this rate it will be at least another month.

We moved back to Nebraska from Phoenix in 1992. I think I’ve been trying to move back ever since! I am a warm weather person.

Florida has been terrific. Yes, humid in the summer but being 2.5 miles from the ocean (as the Crow flies) the humidity is tolerable, not oppressive. There’s 4 months of HOT (June-September). The first half of October was pretty warm but from mid-October through now it’s been very comfortable. Very low humidity in the winter months. I’m suspecting it’ll start to warm up in April and mid-May will be getting back to hot. In all, 7 months of terrific weather outweighs the winters of Colorado, or anywhere for that matter. Colorado has some of the best (mild) winter climates of all the cold states. Summers are terrific in Colorado although it’s been getting hot at times.

One of the biggest issues I’ve had is learning how to pitch and chip on the sandy soil and Bermuda grass. New GW and SW with more bounce was needed. As I told @Joelnessthe other day in a text, I need to start practicing and working on my game. Not just pitching and chipping but my swing as a whole. I’ll spend some time on the range next week rebuilding my golf foundation.

Have family in Neptune/Jax Beach area and visited last July. I'm good with heat, but the humidity(and bugs) was unreal (Hidden Hills and Queen's Harbor). That said, planning to go back this upcoming July and would love to meet up with some people for more golfing misery, either at a course or a place with a simulator.

Send me a PM before you come out. Let's see if a meet up is in the cards. I am hoping more local residents of northeast Florida become active on this thread. I was spoiled as the Colorado regional thread is very active and have a lot of terrific people.

@RobotDoctor If you play anywhere along I95 south of Daytona give me a shout. I am in Melbourne and play anywhere along I-95 but generally the furthest north I go is LPGA courses.

@markheardjr, absolutely! I haven't played since the first week of April. Been really busy with work. I travel for work so my time at home has been limited. I have a break coming up in July and will look to get a few rounds in during that time. I will send a PM before I play and maybe we can get our schedules to line up. Thanks for the reply!
