as much as complaining about announcers bothers me…

 

i can’t stand listening to john sterling and suzyn waldman call yankees games on the radio

 

sterling’s 104 years old and his mind is so far gone he goes entire games calling people by the wrong name. 

 

and suzyn sounds legitimately drunk in the booth and it’s impressive that she’s been calling major league games for 30 years and still doesn’t understand the game. 

 

other than those two, no one bothers me calling games.

i think the radio crew is so obnoxious to me because i’m stuck in my car and there’s no visual to distract me from the nonsense they’re saying

Played golf, mowed the front lawn and barbecued a pork loin chop to go with a cucumber salad drizzled in olive oil and anointed with grated Parmesan and Romano cheese.  BTW, the lawn mowing on a hill is a b****.  But a glass of wine on the Mexican patio was my reward.

The Strategy of 85%

Today the focus will be on course management and how to make sure you are making the correct decisions while playing your round. If the chances of you pulling off a shots odds are low and you're having to carry penalty areas, bunkers, and or out of bounds then lay up and do not go for it. 

 

A scenario would be that you're 210 yards away from the hole and there is water that is 200 yards to carry. You're thinking of trying to hit with your 3-wood that only carries 210 yards. This shot is highly improbable, and you don't have enough club to get over the water 6/7 shots. Your miss from this distance would need to be long with water short. You would be losing stroke and distance if you try and go for it and don't pull it off. The odds are forever against you and laying up can put you in a position to use a scoring club like an iron or a wedge. Hitting your lay up ball to the correct distance and in the fairway is the most important. Try to hit your lay up to a yardage you are comfortable with. Might be 100 yards, so you have a fuller club into the green,vs hitting it closer to the green will make it harder to stop your ball on the putting surface. If you lay up in the rough, you could be costing yourself more shots, since hitting the ball out of the rough makes it harder to hit and hold the green. 

 

Now we need to focus on the club and the line we will take for our layup. We must hit a club that we are comfortable with, along with having the proper line that will take potential trouble like bunkers, penalty areas, and out of bounds off the table. If the changes of you pulling the shot off are at least 85% or 6/7 times, then go for it. If not, then lay up and take possible penalty strokes off the table. 

 

 

 

 

I believe in The Strategy of 85.
