You referring to the so-called disparaging comments from Jen K about Leona that may or may not have been really said?

3 in a row for Europe , Maguire and Grant play all 5 matches in a few years again

they aint criticizing Suzann anymore 🙂

Next year it will be and probably very similar teams. Can see us (euro) getting even stronger with likes of Linn and Maja smoothing of the few rough edges they have. Should be good!  Same captains maybe as was tie game?

Same captains are locked in for next year, too.

Michael Jordan (and Tiger Woods) was famous for remembering/ imagining/inventing perceived slights/insults from opponents/taking it personally.

Podcast episode synopsis:

"With Brendan partying with Bills Mafia, Joseph LaMagna joins Andy to talk about this week's golf. The two start by discussing the Solheim Cup and the good (the action on the course) and the bad (the coverage). The conversation then moves to rounding out the other results in golf including Norman Xiong's win on the Korn Ferry Tour and Bryson's triumph on LIV. The end of the episode centers on a quick discussion of the week ahead at the Ryder Cup in Rome."

I am, she made numerous mistakes.

Remember also it was 14/14, Europe didn't win but did retain the trophy as holders.

was interesting watching some  of the US participants not happy ,given it was 14-14, that it was retained , 'we need a solution' was a theme  ...lol. Rules have been in place for how many years now?....Salty tears

British commonwealth folk are used to this issue and are comfortable with it eg The Ashes England vs Oz in test cricket ending in a tied series and the current holder retains the trophy. Been like that for 150 years.

I'm guessing Americans are less accepting of this and want a winner from the current contest.

Just different cultures with different viewpoints.

Nice one-stop compilation of the post-match press conferences (including the discussion w.r.t. "current holder retains the trophy, in the event of a tie")

... via Matt Adam's "Fairways of Life" show.

For my taste, the Euro players are far too happy for a team that only retained the trophy but didn't win the contest.

Retained is good and it's not losing but winning is better.

Hot Chocolate Every One's A Winner.... uh no.

This Cup stuff would be even better with a 3 hole aggregate all 24 players scores count. Something will happen if TV throws enough money at it.

Won't happen.

She should be motivated to make cuts, and keep her card first off. If it wasn't for the DOW (team event) she would likely be at Q series every year.

I will say her driving accuracy has gotten loads better this year, is she still hitting driver or has she gone the 3 wood route?

Stacy's comments in the Sunday presser are bizarre to me "my #1 thing wasn't winning the cup but to make sure the team had a great experience and had fun"

If I ever had a captain that really believed that they wouldn't be a captain any more.

Never thought Stacy would have that viewpoint and frankly I don't believe it, she's trying to build something for next year after losing by re-inventing this as a two-cup journey.

Yes, no other sport where a tie is a loss. 3 hole playoff with 2 players. After that sudden death.

Kind of unwritten rule in Boxing.   You gotta knock out the champ.   That is the rules for this.   If you are the champ, its 14 points to keep the champ belt.  If you are the contender, it is 14.5.

then why not argue for a 'no tie' from the get go? why wait till after you 'lose' such ?

not a good look

How about if the event ends in a tie, the cup gets placed on a dusty shelf until the next one, no one "retains" it, it goes into hibernation mode.

Personally to me, sounds like her way of taking the pressure off the players. The old, Win or lose, just do your best and have fun show. In reality they all want to bury the opposition in a bunker head first.

I think "retaining" in the mind of the retainer, is a win.

I get that, it's how we think in Oz re cricket for example. It's accepted and it's the goal.

However it isn't winning - it may be achieving the primary goal  but it still isn't defeating your opponents across the series of matches.

So Oz and England played out a tie in a 5 test match cricket competition in England 3 months ago (2 wins each and a draw) and as the holders Oz retained 'The Ashes' trophy. Oz cricket fans were happy enough with that but not entirely happy, we didn't win and English cricket fans won't let us forget it and have claimed a morale victory for various reasons not needing explanation here.

Retaining isn't as good as winning and we're not entirely happy, it's a partial success only.

Win and 'bury' your opponents.

After Tom's comments I was thinking the same thing for both this and the Ryder... if at the end things are tied.. then the cup goes on a shelf as unclaimed until the next go around.

Cups don't go on shelves. The whole thing about a cup is you win it and retain it until somebody else wins it from you.

Like in football you routinely have draws in league matches but if it's a cup you have a penalty shootout and somebody has to win it. It's in the nature of a "Cup" event.
