What year and model is this putter from?

Does anyone know what putter model and year this putter is from? I know it's a newport head but not much else.

I'm thinking of either getting it restored or adding some customization as a special gift for my son but I don't see it as a Scotty Custom Shop option. I may try to get it done elsewhere if sending it back to Scotty is not an option.

If people have recommendations on putter customization I'd love to hear your recommendations. (I live in Canada but can easily ship to the USA)

Thanks to all the putter experts out there in advance!

Definitely an oil can classic circa '98 or '99.

Based on the tiny site line on top it looks like someone may have already tried some aftermarket "improvements" on it as it didn't come like that originally. Refinish is definitely a possibility, but with the amount of rusting you'll probably lose a fair amount of weight doing that. And those are already very light putters by today's standards.

If it were me I'd just keep it as is. Maybe try to clean it up as much as you can at home.

Perhaps it's not an option to get custom work done then?

I don't believe they offer oil can as a finish anymore. Might be why it isn't showing up.

Best bet would be to call them.

Thanks for the recommendations. I actually like the patina and the sight line.

The putter already has a weight plug at the top of the grip. Hoping to add some weight to the shaft somehow and put a new grip if I were to get some work done to it.

If you want an oil can finish done send it to BOS Golf they most likely did the original finish on these.

Really nice.  Some food grade silicon will keep that patina nicely for you.

With that sight line I would not send it to the custom shop.

Yup agree with this and MattM97

not only will they not work on it b/c of aftermarket, they don't do oil can anymore

and as Matt says, if you were to want to do this, send it to BOS.  Their oil can finish is RIDICULOUS.

I think this one has had a lot more work to it than the DIY sight line.  That face looks buffed smooth too.

I like your idea of going straight patina

I’ll add another for BOS if you do decide to refinish. This was my refinish from them

Send the putter to BOS Golf.  They did the original Oil Can finish anyway.  The finish would be authentic then.  The custom shop would put a finish on it that isn’t original.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
