Miura Tournament Blades. Need an expert

JordanC

Recommended Posts

I have a set of Miura Tournament blades that I need someone who is an expert in the value of Miura irons.

These are have conforming grooves and they are circle K.  4-P in pretty good shape.

I don't need someone to low ball me and tell me they are worth $800 and that they are willing to pay that right now for them.

I have a friend who wants to buy them from me and said he is willing to pay whatever the market value of them is.

You may have some luck looking in the BST archives on this subject (Miura circle k clubs). There was a listing from 2021 for circle k baby blades that had a unique set (bent to accommodate a missing 7) originally listed at $1200. The listing is still up at $950, I don’t know if these were ultimately sold through wrx.

Obviously that’s a different scenario than yours. On the one hand, baby blades can sometimes command higher prices than tournament blades, BUT on the other hand that listing is getting close to two years old and Miuras have become more well-known and desirable since AND at the same time the set in the listing is missing a 7 and yours is not. Still, it gives you an idea of a starting point, and what to look into. I think the initial price is probably a better number to use as a reference point, with an adjustment for the fact that you have a full set.

overall the market for these clubs is tricky. I’m not sure there is ultimately a recognized market value, because they’ll sell for what people will pay for them. The circle k is allegedly supposed to designate  that Miura-San hand ground the irons himself. The other collections of clubs that have allegedly felt his hands, Miuraisms, are listed anywhere from 1800-3200+ on eBay, however, again, you see a lot of those listings having been up for a long time and not selling (and the clubs in varying condition). Still, again it provides some idea of the value people attribute to his actual work going into the clubs.

Without seeing images of your clubs it is difficult to give you an idea of the actual value (or at least what we think someone might pay for it), but hopefully this gives you some stuff to think about

One quick note, you can look on here for a few threads on the significance of the circle k and for some tidbits on value. As I understand it, the valuable sets are the ones that have a circle k next to a circle with a sl in it (so two circles after Miura, one with a k inside and one with sl inside). To confuse matters, the circle sl looks very similar to a circle with a backwards k in it. My previous post is assuming your irons have the both circles.

Hey Jordan, I believe they've probably gone down a few bucks since last time you brought up this subject.

My appraisal last time was about $900.

IF they are in the same exact condition as they were last May, I'd say today, $700-$725, is where the value probably sits.
