Best Short Game Practice Area

What are the best short game practice areas that are available to the public in DFW?

For public, Rangers. It's free because it's technically a city course, they can't kick you out. And they put balls out there and have volunteers who pick them up. Also big putting green too that anyone can use.

 

For north of town, soon PGA Frisco is going to open a gigantic putting green and lighted short  course to the public. I think in May. PG is free, probably have to pay for the par 3 course.

Pecan Hollow is good as well. They have a i think 5 hole short course as well.

Leonard Golf Links. Nice driving range, very nice practice area.

Leonard's is a very nice facility. However, the last time I was there it was packed. Not an issue on the range, but not very conducive to practice on the chipping and pitching greens. Too many people. Also, you have to pay to access the putting and chipping areas. Will still go on occasion. Just have to pick the right times.

Rangers is nice. Probably the best I have encountered so far. Can't wait to give PGA Frisco a go, though it is quite a hike for me as I am on the opposite side of the metroplex.

Yep it gets very packed. Yesterday I hit a bucket in the peak of the day (11am or so) and the range was almost full and the short game area was crowded. I think it was partly because there was a huge demo day from the major golf brands.

 

I came back at around 5pm right before the rain came and there were only a few people. I usually go in the evening when there isn't as much people.

 

I debated on even getting a membership with them.

The Ronny is already open and fun if you have kids.  Looks like the The Swing 10 hole par 3 opens on the 2nd along with The Dance Floor 18 hole putting green.

Saw that it would open on 5/2. Any idea on what the fee is going to be to play the short course?

No idea. I'm sure it won't be much though, they're really trying to make it a grow the game thing.

Boy, short game is a tough one. Likely not the best answer but will say Keeton Park is my go-to range in general. Short game area is decent

For short game, sherrill park has a great area 40 yards and in. Pecan Hollow is also great with the par 3.

I ended up getting a membership and Leonard Golf links. I love being able to check in get a bucket and practice all I want.
