Vessel Player III Vs Ping Hoofer 2023

Trying to pick between a 2023 Ping Hoofer and a Vessel Player III.

 

Is the Vessel worth the extra money?

 

And how do they hold up in white?

 

I walk, pushcart and ride depending on time, heat and preference on the day.

 

Coming from the 2021 Hoofer which was good, but didn’t love the way it looked.

🍿Interested in hearing comments on this as well.  I recently picked up a Ping Hoofer Lite and I really like the bag so far but the Vessel bags are still on my radar.  I am not sure I am a fan of the synthetic leather outside so I would probably consider the VLS DXR, I just wish they came in some different colors.

Hoofer is the better bag, just a bonus that it costs less

Apples to oranges. The Player 3 is bigger and heavier, whereas the Hoofer is lighter. Personally I prefer the Hoofer, but I hate that Ping pimps it’s logo out all over the bag. Wish they had them without the logos

Don't think you can order single bags without logos.  Usually a minimum number, at least in the past.

I think that's only for custom orders.  They keep blank bags on hand for country club logos, etc.

I have a Hoofer Light & Vessel Player 3. I personally would not like to carry the Player 3 as it is too heavy even though the straps are great. I purchased the Vessel to go on an electric cart and I love it and overall. The Hoofer light is a great bag but nothing like the Vessel for quality.

I was a hoofer guy; I am now a Player 3 guy, I carry all my rounds.

 

The Player 3 carries light just like the Hoofer but its just so well made and designed!

For Vessel nothing carries as well as the VLX/VLS Lux. I prefer the Lux as it has a full length garment pocket. I used to load mine up with tees, 6 balls, water bottle and rangefinder. Light weight and good balance. The 3 and 4 are just too bulky to carry efficiently. That being said, nothing carries as well as a Hoofer. For its size, storage and straps, it is still king of the hill. The Vessel Lux without rain hood weighs the same as the Hoofer with rain hood. Club tangle might be about the same but the Vessels top is smaller.

I have a Ping Hoofer 2022 model and a Vessel VLS. I gave the Hoofer to my son once I got the VLS. I have not regretted that decision once 😄

Other than the water bottle holder, I think everything about the VLS is better than the Hoofer.

I needed a couple of bags for our family this year and thus far have purchased the Ping Hoofer Lite and I have been using it for the past few months.  I really wanted the Hoofer as I liked the magnet close pocket but overall I just like smaller bags and the PHL is a very well organized bag.  The plusses include the water bottle holder that zips closed when not in use, I like the top mounted valuables pocket, and the large pocket with an interior mesh storage area is a nice touch.  

 

For the next bag, I am really torn between staying with a PHL, getting the Hoofer, or trying the Vessel VLS DXR.  I have been so satisfied with the PHL thus far that I may just pick up another one in a different color.

Your clubs will tangle in both, so if you want to pay more for that go with Vessel.

I have the current Player III and a Hoofer that is a couple of years old.  Hoofer is much better for carrying.  Player III is a little heavier but for me the biggest issue is the Player III water bottle pockets are terrible when carrying. I can’t get my water bottle back in the pocket without setting the bag down on the ground.  Also, no cart strap tunnel on Player III is disappointing for cart use.  If you’re using a push cart then it’s just a matter of style preference.

Just sold a P3 and went to the 2023 Hoofer. I had the DXR and the amount of synthetic was too much for me. It just truly feels cheap and I don’t like it at all.  I much preferred the VLS in the DXR but found it overall too small in the pocket space. If I walked the VLS DXR would be my choice most likely. 
 

The new Hoofer is really great. I always liked the Hoofer but the tangle for me made it a no go. The new base they have on the 2023 makes it better. The storage on the bag and layout is impeccable. Truly happy with it and I’m a total bag ****** and have had WAY too many over the past few years.
