No expert but some easy things to see. More torso and shoulder turn. Also the big thing is you move out of left tilt much too soon. Go with intent of hitting ball with back to target. More, uncomfortably more. Much of this topic is really about getting arms down proportionally faster than we perceive and doing it without crashing shoulder turn and general body rotation. It's a reset of impulses, so it takes work.

Thanks for the reply. When you say staying in left tilt longer you mean at the top keeping closed as the arms drop. Is this also when they talk about good players keeping their left shoulder down longer?

Yes. And when you turn to top, in order to maintain body angles the torso bends to left tilt. There's YT videos on this topic. In general, common faulty perception is to move to right tilt much too soon on down swing. Better swingers, swing "down hill". They have a body tilt that is more downward and holds that for longer.

I've been working on "release from top, get hands down thing" for a long time, too long to admit too, a big block to this working,is moving to right tilt too soon and it's not always just perception. How well the hips work matter on this, if hips are sloppy, they slide or crash towards ball line too much, lose depth, perception won't save you. Just saying

Thank you, sir.

How else would you control trajectory?

The intent has to be done much sooner in the swing. It was either Monte or amg that said any thought you have in the downswing occurs after impact.

In ntc monte talks about cast b and doing it early in transition but in reality is happens later in the swing it just needs to be started sooner basically.

Everything is done in the set up. Ball position, stance, body and club alignment.

The downswing happens in a flash, it happens subconsciously. There are complex body and club positions with neurons, nerves and hundreds of muscles being stimulated and fired that trying to isolate any one component as a secret move is crazy.

Yeah, simply do not agree. The idea everyone has a Pro swing in the making with good grip & setup is ludicrous. The biggest handicap going for golfers is lack of understanding of how good swings actually work. Computer modeling has debunked a lot of myths, it's set my head straight on a lot of long held miss conceptions, and pointed me in proper direction. Glad it's here & available.

The downswing happens so quick that trying to control shaft lean would be like trying to grab a bullet after it leaves the barrel of a gun.

That's a strawman. Nobody here is saying that the decision is made when the downswing begins.

I can absolutely considerably change the swing that I make without changing my setup at all. Just because it happens fast, doesn't mean I can't control it.

"like trying to grab a bullet"... Really? 🙄

There's something to be said about being non-technical and avoiding the wonky in a golf swing. I always try to practice both in technical & intuitive mode, try to break the two apart. On the course I clearly play better if it's pure intuitive, if it remains visualized and creative. I struggle to hold to that there and can see why talk of angles and noodling of directions and impulse is off putting.

I'm learning that you can always count on @Zitlow for some nonsense paired with a video of Mike Dunaway or some other black and white video. Why learn anything from advances in technology when you can just look at a video of Mike Dunaway bending his right elbow 130° or Sam Snead at 20 FPS in low resolution?

No. You can give Rory or Scottie or whomever a horrible grip and setup and they're still gonna kick your butt on the golf course. The setup is not everything.

And yet… people can and do make changes to their downswings. Crazy!

The grip determines the orientation of the clubface and is a major factor in determining the range of motion of the various wrist movements . The stance is a major factor in weight distribution fore/aft

and left/right  among other things . I would categorize the grip/stance as necessary but NOT SUFFICIENT  conditions in a good golf swing .

. I welcome your posts since you seem to be quite knowledgeable about the golf swing  . But I do not see how you are advancing your case through ad hominem comments.I could criticize Mike Dunaways swing in detail , but I do not see the point.
Obviously I do not know you or how you teach . But if you are top instructor , I am willing to bet that you spend considerable time on the grip and setup if they are flawed

I never said otherwise. I did say they aren’t “everything.” Because they’re not.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
