Seller sent putter with incorrect length

I had purchased SC Phantom from a seller here. To make long story short it turned out that putter was 1” short and putter would need 2x20g weights to bring SW to target. 
 

Perhaps I should have waited for resolution with seller first , but I placed an order for two weights on ebay for $16 and sent seller a message if he is willing to split the cost. 
 

If he refuses, what options do I have besides negative feedback? I want to keep the putter.

Yes you should have tried to work something out before you did anything. He may ask for you to just return it. You can’t buy something and just expect him to go along with it. He may, and hopefully he does so this concludes. But you’ve muddled the situation a bit IMO.

Pull the grip, add a 1" extension, regrip.  Problem solved, no need for extra weights.

You already said you want to keep it no matter what so you have no chips to bargain with here…let the seller know their error and move on with life, I guess?

As the seller on this I’d like to interject here as I was not added to the post. Had a feeling after getting the message saying the putter was short, weights (that come with a tool) were purchased, asking for me to split the costs. First of all, no not willing to send back $8. After paying for Priority shipping and PayPal fees this feels like feedback extortion to me. This is exactly why we come to places like wrx to sell instead of ebay!! It’s taken YEARS of being on here to get the amount of feedback I have on here and getting negative feedback for sending the exact putter advertised(I measured myself before sending) is just wrong. Not to mention this is a week after receiving the putter that I get this message. Enjoy the awesome deal you got on the Scotty. I wish I had sold it to one of the many wrx’ers that messaged after you.

The original ad said 34” which is what I measured at. His picture shows it’s at 33.5”. What’s also not mentioned is that it has a aftermarket super stroke grip on it, which was pictured, and would alter the swing weight itself. Not sure if he actually used a swing weight scale or is basing his need for 10 g heavier weights off of stuff read on here. Regardless I am not going to pay for half of new weights that were purchased before I got a message and a tool which comes with the weights that he bought

I was going to just move on but had to post. You advertised it as 34”, but the putter is definitely not 34” I remeasured it and it is close to 33”. You also failed to state that the putter has been altered in your original post. 
 

Golfwrx is not wild west and we have rules, which is why we have moderators here and feedback system. 
 

Imagine you bought a putter here and it came short (altered). Would most of you just say move on? It is not about the amount, but I am just pissed off that buyer is pretty much saying seller can do whatever in GOLFWRX.

Seller should have stated proper length ... Buyer should have tried to fix the problem before buying weights/tool and extorting money from seller.

Putter looks short but still think it's on @malelee21 to try and resolve before opening a new thread and definitely before buying parts to fix then looking for the the seller to reimburse.

If I made a mistake measuring in the original post then I can handle that. In no way was it any more than that. No way is any message asking for $8 for weights(and a tool) days after the fact going to come off well. Never said wrx was the Wild West, but it’s also no Amazon. Have a nice day.

Just for clarification, I received the putter on 8/21 but never got to put with it until last night as I have tee time this afternoon. I noticed something is off when I placed it next to my 34” SC 5MB putter (unaltered). 

 

In any case, I am moving on.

If the putter wasn’t as advertised you had every right to contact the seller and try to work something out. He could have told you to just return in although that would result in around the same expense. 
 

But you did not have the right to make an extra purchase then ask to split. That could have been a part of the resolution and had you approached it privately. And I’d bet nearly anything it could have been done amicably. 
 

Make no mistake - you bear responsibility in this becoming a mess. You even said in your OP you maybe should have waited on a resolution. So yea, that. There was no reason this needed to be publicly aired yet.

A buyer complaining about getting 8 dollars back from a seller for weights THEY decided to buy?  Now I’ve seen it all.  Time to block this guy!
