Speed swing and on course swing

I have noticed that my practice swing is quite similar to my swing when I train for speed. It is much nicer than my game swing but the club is wide open at the moment of impact. My on course swing is 10-15 mph slower than my other swing and it is quite frustrating that there is such a big difference. My question is, is there any point in continuing to train for speed when it doesn't seem to affect the game swing? Or should I keep working on speed and focus more on mechanics in my game swing?

We all expect the clubface to be somewhat more open when swinging max speed because you are not swinging at your usual tempo. Speed training is meant to get you body more accustomed to swinging FASTER so you normal swing gets faster. I have found that as your swing becomes faster, some slight adjustments in grip may be needed. I have found that swinging faster requires me to take a slightly stronger top hand position as my release becomes slightly later due to the increased speed. However, one must be cautious to make only SMALL adjustments so that other unwanted changes don't happen.

Good luck!

Thats what I mean, it looks better but I know it isnt. But its hell of a lot faster and that bothers me 🙂

Speed training for someone with swing flaws is probably not going to help much other than create possibly more bad moves.

Identify where the issues are in your swing and improve on them and speed should go up

Great point that I totally forgot to include. Speed training a flawed swing simply magnifies the flaws. You need to get that swing grooved before going for more speed. Now, I'm not saying you should SLOW DOWN to groove your swing. I'm saying you have to learn to be the most efficient you can be. Pros swing 115 mph with less effort the the average amateur puts into a 95 mph swing! Once you begin moving in the proper way, the amount of effort needed to generate speed changes dramatically.

This puts you in the same boat as every other golfers that’s ever played the game.

There is nothing that can be done.  Everyone, including tour players can swing faster without a ball.

Asking to make your ball swing as fast as your speed training swing  is like saying you eat well and exercise and expect no health problems ever.  It just doesn’t work that way.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.
