Alternatives to 2023 Pro V1X

I’m having a really hard time adjusting to the new Pro V1x and wondering if anyone else has switched since the new ball rolled out. 
 

I absolutely loved the 2021 Pro V1x but the new ball curves too much for me. 
 

 

High Compression is a must but would prefer something with less long game spin. I’ve played the left dash in the past and it was too firm around the green for my liking. 

 

Anyone have recommendations on for an alternative?

If by "long game" you're mostly talking driver, you're not going to get very far trying to knock off spin with a different model of ball. Even a Left Dash or AVX is only going to be a few hundred rpm lower than Pro V1x off a driver or 3w.

@PZD If you want less curvature @Drewhill44 made a good recommendation in the Tour BX. It flies straighter and its better in the wind. The 2022 version and 2023 version have significantly more greenside spin than the previous generations.

My pick is the Callaway Chrome soft X LS.  Plenty long off the tee and good green side spin.

I highly doubt that you're noticing any curvature differences between the new and old V1x unless you're one of the most elite ball strikers in the world...

 

I played around a bit with the flightscope trajectory optimizer in the past for the driver and, the short version is that you'd need something like 1000 rpms difference *and* basically be hitting hooks or slices before you'd even see a few yards difference between how far offline the high and low spin balls went. 

 

Out of curiosity, I checked just now for a 7 iron using the trackman's PGA tour averages for launch angle, ball speed, and spin rate and what I found is that, a spin rate of 7100 rpms and spin axis of 10* left gives a 7.9y draw.  If I bump up the spin to 8100 and keep everything else the same, the draw is now a 8.0y draw.  If I drop the spin to 6100 the draw is only 7.7y.  Given that there's no way the new and old V1x vary by 1000 rpms in terms of their spin, the amount of curvature that you would see for both balls on similarly struck shots is going to be effectively identical. 

 

Also note that the low to high spin shots both have carry distances that are 4 yards off from the average values.  So, if the spin were really changing drastically you'd also have noticed by now that all your distances were off. 

 

As for aerodynamics, I haven't seen anything in particular detail other than on the back of the boxes, but both the 21 and 23 are described as having a spherically tiled 348 tetrahedral dimple pattern.  So, unless I've missed it or they changed something and don't really talk about it, the aerodynamics of the balls should be pretty much the same. 

 

This isn't to say there isn't a better ball for you, but I don't think the problems you are seeing are actually caused by the changes to the V1x from 21 to 23.
