To Bally's casinos, just of sale. Thought property was doing ok. Awesome course can be deadly when winds above 15mph+. Wanted to make a tee time and just saw the change in ownership.

My understanding is that Bally's basically bought out the prior operator's lease, and there was a lot of political will within the City to get the prior operator's name off of the property; in fact, there was/is litigation between the City and the prior operator. It supposedly wasn't a reflection on how good or bad business was at the course. The City still owns the land. This forum thankfully doesn't allow political discussion so let's leave it at that.

‘Thanks for the update, I had a slight feeling that was the case, didn’t know City still owned. I feel like political discussion is cover for problem discussion that need to be addressed today not tomorrow, what happened to civilized conversation online, free speech, common sense. I’m not use to all these new rules been off social media since 2014. Just got back into it last year. I wish I saw your non edited post lol

The City of NY owns the course. The former operator had a long term lease or license to operate it, which was assigned to the new operator. I've read that there were two driving forces behind the assignment. One being the City's desire to not continue with the old operator; the other being the old operator's need for cash.
