Hi all, thought I would give the WITB a go...

 

Below is a spec sheet for my whole bag - as a WRXer I assume this is standard protocal 🙂

 

 

Bag View

 

- I love my Mizuno Tour Cart bag, really struggling to find a replacement. It has the perfect 15 way divider system so I have a gap for my alignment sticks and my three wedges sit perfectly in the bottom of the bag. So many of the new bags have really terrible divider systems!

- I keep all my woods under full leather covers as my OCD does not like different brands etc under there haha. Even had a custom leather cover made for my Putter as there just isnt much that fits a Ping B90! Covers are from Headgear Golf.

- Also struggling to replace my large Ogio golf towel - its 100cm by 40cm and I just cant find suitable replacements in South Africa.

 

 

 

 

Picked up the Srixon ZX7 MK2 Irons earlier this year and they have been brilliant. Incredibly soft, can shape them and the turf interaction is unmatched. 

 

 

Picked up the Srixon ZX5 LS 9.5 with Hzrdus Black 70g 6.5 Shaft this week... but I hate it on the range and course so selling it and back to my old gamer and the drawing board on a new driver. I can't believe I am going to say it, but I am ballooning the ZX5 LS! 

 

 

 

 

 

Gone back to my trusty Cobra SZ 9 Degree Driver (heavy weight forward for lower spin) with Fujikura Pro 73 X Flex Shaft. To be fair I have been averaging well over 300m off the tee with it so I think perhaps the upgrade was more about wanting a new driver than needing one. With some roll during the winter I was routinenly getting some out 350m+... took me some trial and error to dial in this combo though as fitting is really hard and I seem to never get the same driver as tested! Build quality issues and my heavier midsize Lamkins are an ongoing battle. 

 

 

 

 

I love my trusty Fairway wood and Hybrid, going to do some testing within the Titleist range (possibly TSR3 and maybe Srixon ZX utility...) but it will take a fair improvement in numbers to kick these two out. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Been playing Vokeys this season, really like them and the Brushed finish is a winner... Will be upgrading to SM9s as the grooves wear out. 58 Degree is on its way out with an SM9 on order.

 

 

Got hold of this B90 by chance and out of desperation when I couldn't bend over to putt normally because of a herniated disc at L4, L5. Been a game changer - dropped 4-5 putts a round and not going back. Got it in pretty mint condition with OG Ping grips that I have since replaced with a Winn Grip.

 

 

 

 

Srixon ZX7 MK2 Irons, 4-PW with Dynamic Gold X100. All my clubs have Lamkin Midsize grips with the logo down. Cannot say enough good things about these irons... they will be in the bag for a while. I picked up some good distance while keeping the spin which I was worried about moving from Mizuno MP5 blades. The added forgiveness is great and the longer irons have some proper ball speed.

 

 

 

To round out the bag, I play with a Srixon Cabretta Leather glove (amazing value) and Srixon XV Yellow Golf Ball. Went to a yellow ball a season ago and won't go back... I never lose a ball in the rough anymore (I am there often so this helps haha). Mark my ball with a line that I use for putting and then a black dot to the right of the number on each side.

Sweet set up man…those ZX7 MK II irons are so gorgeous!

 

Interesting combination of hitting so long off the Tee and having such stout shafts, but not being able to bend over to putt?
 

Must be very painful…can’t imagine how brutal that would be.

Thanks @BallerNate... kept engaging with your bag and thought it was about time to get mine out there. Need to fix my iphone camera though to get some better quality pics! But yes, planning some small tweaks to the bag in the coming months so should be an interesting journey.

 

Its strange, I changed my swing completely the past 12 months to improve my pain levels and can swing pretty well most days. But the act of standing over putts for so long (and practice) was impossible with the short putter. So made the switch and I love it... anyone thats not a GREAT putter with the short version should definitely give a broom a try (just my 2c). But yes, seeing the surgeon tomorrow about starting to rectify my neck (2 level fusion) and then we will see how long we can stretch the back without surgery. I have good movement and strength still with quarterly facet block injections so just chronic pain! But worried about long term for golf if I have the back worked on!

 

Now, got to try and fix this driver... going to try a 12g weight in the sole vs the 8g along with my midsize grip to get the swingweight right again and then hopefully it plays like it did when I tested it! Then looking to find a shaft option for a ZX Utility that I want to build up. Thinking Srixon SX Utility, 18 Degree, 40.5" Misubishi Tensei 1K Black 95X setup if I can get them to build it for me! Then also some new Vokeys. Although @BallerNate how are those RTX6's working out for you? Looking to go either Vokey or those with S400s...

I’m still in the testing stages with the RTX 6 Zipcores, but the early indications are very good.

 

Just 3 practice sessions and 1 live round in with them, but they seem to be just a little bit better than the OG Zipcores, which were fantastic.

 

Feel is just as good, but they seem to be a little bit more forgiving, face is rougher for added spin, grinds are a little bit different, and the finish looks a little bit better.

Great set-up.  I'm considering the ZX7 when I get fit shortly.  Loved the ZX5 when I played them as rentals earlier.

Well worth a look, all the Srixon irons are high quality in the last few iterations! Get fit, and show us your WITB when they come

Nice, looking at getting them in the black finish - just need to tighten up my chipping and get the 58 degrees bounce right then we can get some in.

UPDATE:

 

So I went for a refit with Srixon this past week and we are just going to tidy up the ZX5 LS Build. Driver was fine with the stock grip but the moment we went to midsize it buggered everything up. So now the team is building a new setup:

 

Srixon ZX5 LS 9.5 Degree head, 45.25" Hzrdus Black 70g Shaft 6.5 Flex (Tipped 3/4") with a 12g weight vs the 8g weight. Lamkin Midsize Grip. I am going to add 3g of lead tape to the back to dial the swingweight in at D3. Will post some pics when it comes back this week. But its a low spin bomb, cant wait.

 

Then I cracked my Fujikura shaft this past weekend haha so the timing is perfect. Going to put in an insurance claim for the old driver so its out of the bag.

Putter change... was putting poorly with the broom so got a Biomech built at 45" so I can armlock and still stand tall. Loving it so far (1 round in - great putting day)... so easy to set up. Assume the looks turned people off, but my goodness and I going to take peoples money with this thing.
