Precision Pro NX10 vs Bushnell Tour V5

It is time to upgrade my RF. I have a cheap one I bought off eBay with some Christmas money last year. It doesn't lock on and I have to shoot several times to get a good reading. I have pretty much narrowed it down to either the NX10 or V5. Not sure that slope is too important to me. Want to keep it under $300 and I can get the V5 for $250 right now. I was leaning toward the V5, but have read so much about Bushnells' poor customer service and it has me gun shy to go that route. Would appreciate anyone's thoughts and experience between the 2.

I have the nx10 and hate the fact that it vibrates whenever you lock onto anything.

 

 Bushnell vibrates on pin only.

Precision Pro makes some good stuff--- I still have the original one they put out some 7 years ago now that I tested for another site. It is still doing great and holds it's own against higher priced models. It is still holding up and now that I am retired I play anywhere from 3 to 5 times a week. I have about 85 rounds alone on it this year not counting partial practice rounds

I have been using the PP NX9 slope for the last several years, I went with this brand since they are locally based to me (prefer to support local businesses). PP provides free batteries for life...never used this option since it is pretty easy to just purchase replacement batteries at the local stores 🙂

 

I have two of them (me and my daughter's)...both struggle to lock onto the pin approx 50% of the time. I don't know if this is due to wear and tear but their performance has declined significantly since new. 

 

TBH, all these rangefinders are very similar in technology and mass produced in Asia. The primary difference is purely marketing. Like most things mass produced in Asia, once a unique product is launched, the factories quickly ramp up production of copies or "versions" that are "slightly" different to the original patented versions.

 

Pick one based on your preference and be prepared to replace once they start acting erratic. Some have good customer service...so that could be a variable in your decision.

I want a Bushnell V5 or V6 shift but their customer service has me looking/considering cobalt Q6 for that reason.  
 

I have had bushnell products in the past and their CS has been lackluster when I needed them.  Hate to spend that kinda money and be left on the side.  
 

I had a PP NX10. Bought it because of their CS, which I find exceptional.   They replaced a unit because the magnet strength wasn’t that great, and fell off the cart repeatedly over bumps.  I also had an NX9 before that, that was great.   That’s said I’m looking elsewhere this time because my NX10 got some rain on it while on the course and no longer works.   They are offering me 30% off a new replacement because of that but I’m leaning cobalt for their lifetime warranty.

I believe the Bushnell to be a better quality build.  The PP seemed less solid to me. As mentioned above, if the jolt/flag lock is important, the Bushnell blows away the PP. The PP vibrates almost at anything whereas the Bushnell vibrates only at the flag.

I have a V5 pro. Bought it less than a year ago brand new, full price. The view fogged up so I sent it for warranty and got declined. Customer service basically said, it wasn’t designed to be waterproof (it’s never been wet, but it is humid here) so that can happen, sorry about your luck. Then they offered me 20% off if I wanted to buy a new one. 😂

That’s the exact reason I went with cobalt q6.  They screwed me once.  Never again.

Have the NX10 and although it feels a bit cheap in the hands, it does the job well.

I've decided to purchase the Cobalt Q-4 over the NX10
