Back to The Emerald Isle in August….

Trip scheduled and tee times booked. Looking forward to late August and heading back to Ireland again. Taking 3 guys who have never been there, so that will be great. Going to watch the FSU vs Ga. Tech game as well while I’m in Dublin. Here’s the itinerary:

 

Aug 23rd Arrive in Dublin in the AM then play a round at Corballis.

Aug 24th Watch the FSU vs Ga. Tech game at Croke Park

Aug 25th Drive to Narin & Portnoo to play then drive to Balinna

Aug 26th Play Carne 

Aug 27th Play Enniscrone then drive to Lahinch

Aug 28th Play Lahinch then drive to Lixnaw

Aug 29th Play Tralee

Aug 30th Play Ballybunion

Aug 31st Drive to Dublin and drop off the guys to fly home. Play Baltray then drive to Ardglass

Sept 1st Play Ardglass

Sept 2nd Play RCD then drive to Dublin

Sept 3rd Depart

 

Any pub or food recommendations for the Croke Park area of Dublin (I usually stay in the Parnell St/O’Connell St anrea) and the Ardglass/NewCastle area would be appreciated.

You must have thought this through but to me August 25 involves at least 6 hours driving as well as 4-5 hours of golf at N&P. Are you sure about that on day 3 of your trip? Seems way too much. You might want to leave Dublin after the football and head for Donegal that night, stay somewhere en route.

One of the guys coming on the trip works with Gil Hanse and wanted to play N&P. Yeah It will be a long day no doubt but we will make it work.

We get there about 5 days before you for our trip and are playing Carne/Enniscrone a day before you.

A great list of courses. All joys to play, but Way too much driving for me. As I've posted several times, I try to focus on only one or two regions on each visit. I know you can  " make it work", but I'd fly to Shannon and leave Corballis  RCD,  Baltray and Ardglass for another trip and replace them with some of the many gems in closer proximity to the western part of your itinerary.

I’ve been to Ireland several times and played all the courses except RCD and Baltray. However, the 3 guys I’m bringing have never been and wanted to play the courses in the itinerary. There aren’t non stop flights into Shannon from our cities, plus we are watching the game in Dublin so doesn’t make sense to fly there.

Cracking line up of golf - you know your way around so should be fine - enjoy RCD - superb old style links! And the craic obviously!! Hehe
