My field rating for this event is a mediocre 65%, significantly down from 74 % from last year.
My breakdown is 72% from the LPGA Priority List and 58% from the Rolex Rankings.

This is what I was alluding to in some other thread.  I don't expect these tournaments to have everyone like a major, but the fields are down year over year (per the ratings and Rolex points mentioned by others).

 

Some of the Western players could give the early-season Asia swing a miss altogether going forward.  Playing the late-season swing could be limited to those trying to move up the rankings and those vying for year accolades.  Comfortably in the middle; maybe give it a pass.  There are likely some secondary reasons for this, not just the money available elsewhere throughout the season.

@Titleist_PT23: Fair points ... the trend for established USA-based stars/ players to skip the "early Asia swing" has implications for sponsors, prize money etc

 

... Do you think it's "just money" i.e. could a bump from new well-moneyed sponsors improve the situation?

 

There's already an autumn "Asia swing 2" i.e. there might be difficulty to shift this HSBC WWC to another calendar slot?  

   

 

66 players in the tournament entries listing ... used to be self-described as "Asia's major"? 

I wonder whether the HSBC WWC will eventually go co-sanctioned (with KLPGA/ JLPGA etc) to fill the tournament field?

Am expecting thunderstorms (usually in the PM?) this weekend = might disrupt play i.e. they might decide to shift play to earlier timings to beat the weather.  I recall some crazy storms a couple years ago?

I like Hoo Joo a lot, top 10 machine … but she doesn’t convert anywhere near enough for me to bet on. 

Pano seems to be underrated and overpriced . 
 

I’m on Jin ofc and a bit on Pano and MHL

 

A Lim Kim is a fun punt, you know she will blitz a big field again one day

Time for LG to step it up and find some form, very scrappy few weeks by her standards so would expect much better this week. Weather could play a part again, be very surprised if Patty T featured again but it's a funny old game..
