Back in action in a couple of days. Looks like rain for the first three rounds, and a chance for storms on Sunday.

The LPGA's media guides are showing inconsistent info w.r.t. the Sponsor Exemptions:

(A) "This week on the LPGA Tour" provides the following Sponsor Exemptions list: Xingtong Chen (a), In Gee Chun, Muni He, Miranda Wang, Yuting Shi

(B) "Final Entry List" (published 2/27 at 9am): Xingtong Chen (a), In Gee Chun, Muni He, Miranda Wang, Emily K Pedersen.

This is what I was alluding to in some other thread.  I don't expect these tournaments to have everyone like a major, but the fields are down year over year (per the ratings and Rolex points mentioned by others).

Some of the Western players could give the early-season Asia swing a miss altogether going forward.  Playing the late-season swing could be limited to those trying to move up the rankings and those vying for year accolades.  Comfortably in the middle; maybe give it a pass.  There are likely some secondary reasons for this, not just the money available elsewhere throughout the season.

@Titleist_PT23: Fair points ... the trend for established USA-based stars/ players to skip the "early Asia swing" has implications for sponsors, prize money etc

... Do you think it's "just money" i.e. could a bump from new well-moneyed sponsors improve the situation?

There's already an autumn "Asia swing 2" i.e. there might be difficulty to shift this HSBC WWC to another calendar slot?

66 players in the tournament entries listing ... used to be self-described as "Asia's major"?

I wonder whether the HSBC WWC will eventually go co-sanctioned (with KLPGA/ JLPGA etc) to fill the tournament field?

Some more chatter here: https://seoulsisters.freeforums.net/thread/3644/2024-hsbc-womens-world-championship

Am expecting thunderstorms (usually in the PM?) this weekend = might disrupt play i.e. they might decide to shift play to earlier timings to beat the weather.  I recall some crazy storms a couple years ago?

This NBC page should provide more details on the commentary team later today/tomorrow?

Will be interesting to see how Minjee starts her season. 'Going to be odd seeing her with Callaway logos after more than a decade of Srixon.

Shorter putter or the grip is blending in with the shirt colour?  Her right hand looks lower than the longer shafted putter she had last year at the BMW in Korea.

Is Atthaya Thitikul still injured? I thought she was scheduled to play this event and last week. Recovery setback?

@knudson81 @atursky Wanna ask your old buddy JWunder  to nudge his Callaway colleagues to fix MinJee page, before it goes viral? (or Golfwrx might wish to help boost their page impressions with this story!) ... bit embarrassing to have the page refer to "Yani Tseng" and her bio?

Callaway's website has finally updated Minjee's bio (there has been a Yani Tseng copy&paste placeholder bio (on Minjee's bio page) since at least Jan 26.

Hyo Joo for the W, maybe Pano or Hannah G for a surprise W. Be mighty impressed to see Patty notch a top 10.

I like Hoo Joo a lot, top 10 machine … but she doesn’t convert anywhere near enough for me to bet on.

Pano seems to be underrated and overpriced .

I’m on Jin ofc and a bit on Pano and MHL

A Lim Kim is a fun punt, you know she will blitz a big field again one day

Having 8 out of the top 10 world ranking players seems like a strong field to me

i’m content

fine by me, plus I’m sure ill get some views of the merlion, infinity pool, orchard road and chitchat about hawker food like stingray or iced kachang along with teh tarik and kaya toast in the morning from these commentators... yum...

seriously though i always look forward to viewing this event -- and hyo joo's potential ninja look as well.  rooting for my usual culprits - this time, they're finally in these event(s)!
