Drive Chip & Putt Augusta....

Hello.

I hope all is well. My son was fortunate and won the Regional Drive Chip and Putt competition and will be heading to Augusta to compete for the National Finals the Sunday before the masters! I have never been to the Masters (a lifelong dream that will be fulfilled, we are going to Monday's Practice round), or the DCP contest. I was wondering if anyone has gone to the DCP, either as a contestant or a patron, and has any recommendations.

We will be travelling with our family grandparents and uncles etc bout 12 of us in all. I was wondering if you set up chairs or recommendations on the best viewing locations. I'm receiving questions from the family regarding the event and am essentially saying I have no idea, other than I will be Caddying and be behind the ropes!!! 🙂

Any information as to viewing locations, merchandise or food options would be greatly appreciated.

We are all very excited and looking forward to this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Congrats! so cool...

We were there for ANWA last year...but no idea about the DCP setup. All I know is it will be really special...that place is like Disneyland. There are some really good resources online for best ways to get around ANGC during tournament days. just google!

I would definitely go super early monday and try and get in early as possible. like get there an hour plus before gates open...its brutal but its a once/lifetime kind of day. Get merch right away and ship back home (they have fedex drop next to merch building)

Try everything on the menu, its so cheap you kind of have to.

Post in the course membership and travel forums. You will get a lot of good answers there. Or as someone else said, google will help.

Thanks so much, It has been a very surreal experience thus far... I can only imagine once we drive down Magnolia Lane. It is so cool to see the smile and excitement when he talks about it, am so happy for him.

I was there last year for it. But its different as a parent of said contestant. As a general person going its not super crowed due to very limited DCP tickets. Pro shop never had any wait. Get around where you can. But its mostly closed off. you can see 1 tee and 10 tee but that's about it. Not sure if you can walk the par 3 area or not we didn't try to. But DCP is a great event to watch, but take it all in. Its a great experience. FYI that chip is a lot more uphill than you think.

Congrats!!

My son was my only chance at ever stepping foot on Augusta and he let me down year after year. 🙂 Enjoy your time out there.

I do know two kids who were out there last year and year before. I can get input from them if you need. Good luck to your son.

Kekoa, that would be awesome. Any information you could share would be appreciated. I am sure it is going to be a world-wind once we get there. and if I have a couple pointers it would help us plan the day.
