Cleveland Halo Hy-Wood vs Hybrid

Anyone tried the hy-wood and compared it to the hybrid? I love hybrids and I have two older Cleveland DST hybrids in my bag at 20.5° and 23° that I'm looking to update. Ideally I'd like to replace them with 20° and 23° modern equivalents but most of the newer hybrids seem to be 19° and 22° unless you go with the adjustable models that you can tweak. The Cleveland hybrids come in 18/21/24. I really don't want the 18° model so am considering just getting the 21° and 24°. However I noticed the hy-wood comes in a 20° version and was wondering if that might be a good option in combo with the 24° hybrid. Anyone hit both and able to provide any insight?

Thanks

I play and love the Cleveland Halo Launcher XL 4-hybrid (model previous)  It's my security club blanket and probably my favorite club in the bag.  I had the 18* Hy-wood (previous version) and tried the 17* new version.  I also bought the 24* new Halo hybrid and finally gave up my 5-iron. It's quickly becoming as beloved as the 4h.  I found the 18* hywood easier to play than the 17* (shorter shaft and more loft).

I think a 24* hybrid and 20* hywood would gap nicely....but haven't hit the 20*....

Hy-Wood? o.O.

I believe this is similar to what Adams Golf (the original "version" of the company) was doing with their hybrids later in 2013 or so. The Super Hybrid (The one with the SS Base) circa 2013 was more like a wood than a hybrid and could compete accordingly. No idea how close it actually was in cc volume, though. Can't seem to find it.

Clearly, that's the target of this club. Most hybrids are staying well away from FW territory as far as overall head shape and size.

As cool of a club as it appears to be, though; I'll still be sticking to what I've got. Golf expenses they way they are...... and such. 😄

I hit the Cleveland Hal XL 4+ Hy-wood.  It is a fantastic club.  Unfortunately, my local pro shop doesn't have an adjustable model so I was only able to hit the stock set up in a reg flex.  I attached a few pics of my Trackman results w/ the club.  Spin was high, but I attribute that to the shaft being wrong.  Although to me it felt great and I could really swing it.  So has me thinking of going to a 50g stiff flex in my Hy-wood 3+ that I have sitting down in my basement.  If you enjoy hybrids and want one that is very forgiving then I would give the Halo XL's a look.  I will also say go to Cleveland's website and use their online fitting tool.  It was pretty spot on for me in terms of what clubs to try, distances they should go, and how they would gap.

Thanks. Yes very keen on the XL Halo hybrids. Was just wondering whether to go with the hybrids in 4 and 5 or give the 4 hy-wood a try in combo with the 5 hybrid.

Check out Cleveland's wood fitting tool and see what they say would be the best set up.  Link is below ---

Thanks for that. I'm keeping my existing 17° 4 wood and just wanting two clubs to gap to my 24° 5 iron. Looking at the options (retaining 3 wood or ditching it) it allocates either the 3 and 4 hybrids (18° and 21°) or the 3+ hy-wood and 4 hybrid (17° and 21°). But in reality I I don't want to go lower loft than 20° so I'm more likely looking at the 4 hy-wood and 5 hybrid (20° and 24°) or the 4 and 5 hybrid (21° and 24°). I know from experience that I generally hit the equivalent lofted hybrid further than an iron so I'm comfortable bagging the 24° hybrid in combo with my 24° 5 iron.

Just not sure whether to get the 20° hy-wood or stick with the trusty 21° hybrid. Leaning towards the hybrid as I'm generally more consistent with the shorter shafted hybrids than I am with fairway woods. Would be great to demo the 4 hy-wood though.
