There is a tree directly behind #7 box that gives great viewing of that drive. It’s the easiest tee shot on the course; everyone hits driver and it’s good fun. 6 green is just left of it (par 5 with an intricate green).

Let’s get it on! After Thursday and Friday’s commercial-logged and terrible coverage, Grant Boone is haunting the booth alongside denim Pressel. We’re already chunking 8 irons from the fairway on #1 from the leaders. The biggest names are on the 10+ page of the leaderboard (yesterday). Let’s see what we can salvage here.

 

Have the feeling we won’t see a single shot by JYK.

 

How in holy hell is Thompson hitting every club including the putter better than ever. Her in contention, tremendous drama, for the wrong reasons.

 

Nelly Korda. What exactly is this? Be like Tiger Woods shooting 80s at the 2000 US Open and PGA Championship. I’m 100% indifferent to her over all— the great swing and length cancel out the sour puss on the lowest level —everything else about her is so undistinguished I’m done commenting.

Shibuno's swing is soo much better than it was in past seasons, much less flat on the backswing.

 

Probably accounts for her return from her recent wilderness.

Leona bogeys one of her first 3 holes in 50% of her rounds this season, often it is the first hole.

 

Rarely birdies in those first 3 holes.

 

Has happened again in R3, also bogeyed H1 in R2 (did birdie her H1 in R1 here though).

 

Got to be something mental contributing.

Lexi just had one of the worst lies I’ve ever seen. Plugged, downhill, standing outside the bunker, barely any room for the club to hit the ball. I’d have given up and gone home.

The clubhead was on a practice swing path and the sand pushed the ball just enough for it to roll down the slope and end up at the flat of the bunker. 
 

It was worse than a whiff.

Grant looks very professional as an MC this round - excellent black 3 piece suit purple tie and a light lilac (I think) shirt.

 

Even has a pocket kerchief (but the protocol is that shouldn't match the tie).

Did the camera man just show a brat staring at the sun through binoculars? Reminded me of a night shift at the steel mill, looking through binos at a ladle of molten slag being poured. Felt my eyes being pulled out of my head, dropped to my knees as waves of nausea swept through me along with the panic of thinking that I may have blinded myself. Won't do that again. Ok, back to the golf.

Geez, I can’t. Too many interruptions. Too few players shown in sequence. Either watching commercials, interviews, live reads, playing through, the last group’s every shot, or random out of place shots from the rest of the field. It’s capital A awful, in case anyone with any say-so wants to do anything about the ruining of LPGA TV coverage.

She makes putts when it matters.
