This is “pick a supermodel territory” but after 1.5 hours of hitting these exact clubs, the order for me is

1. 150

2. ZX7

3. 243

I could play any of these without batting an eye. To me the 150 is a unicorn between whatever category a “goo filled iron” is and a premium forged. Height, spin and added distance. At least as forgiving for me as the other two as well

Did you hit these on the course, grass range or inside on mats?

This will really depend on your delivery as they are similar irons.

low dynamic loft player is going to like t150.  It’s going to give you more height and spin with the increased  ball speed of stronger lofts and pocket cavity in the mid to long irons.  Likely fits a more shallow angle of attack.  Flat, low bounce sole with sharper leading edge.  Also do really well with misses low on the face and toe side.  High on the face strikes go nowhere.

high  dynamic loft players are going to like the 243 and zx7 better.  Both of these will launch spin noticeably less than the t150.  Mizuno sole is pretty neutral, zx7 has the vsole which is unique and generally a love hate.

feel for me is

zx7

243

t150

I’ve come to the conclusion that if you can play the ZX7 you can play the Z Forged II no problem. Not much difference in forgiveness, none in the scoring irons that I have noticed. And they have thinner soles — not super thin, just thinner than ZX7 — and are very playable. Basically plays like a ZX7 with some of the bulkiness reduced. So if Srixon is your winner, may want to consider the ZFII at least in 8-P.

Throwing in a curveball - for me the new Cobra King Tours beat out all of them. Played Srixon combo set since the 785s then zx7 II, WITH Z forged 7-pw, did a full fitting with Titleist with t100/150 and played mp20 combo set for a while (traded them here for the 785s) but haven’t tried the latest mizunos. The cobras feel as nice as the Srixon and MPs, much nicer than the titleist, and I have found them more forgiving distance-wise on less than perfect strikes (my tendency is to catch it a bit thin).  The blade shape and length is perfect for me - to my eye is gives confidence but isn’t too big, and just looks really clean.

Spin consistency on the 243s was pretty crazy. I also hit:

  • Blueprint S
  • T100
  • Callaway CB

Blueprint S was also close, but 243s are excellent on thin shots

I’ve played the T150 and now have a split set of Z Forged and ZX7 II. I much prefer the feel of the Srixon set I have compared to the T150 and would say forgiveness is just about equal. The sole looks plain on the T150 but like the Srixon, it works well in a variety of turf types and conditions. The 243 are great feeling irons as well but I have only hit them indoors. The 223 I played for about 3 months and they are just about the same as the 243 in terms of feel but I would give the edge to the 243 for its slimmer appearance.
