Just bought some old McGreg Eye O Matics

I've always wanted a great set of old McGregor Persimmon Classic Woods and I found a great set. Its a 1 wood , 2 wood, 3 wood and 4 wood. All in excellent condition. All original shafts and grips. Here is a pic of the driver, all the others look as good. First time for me on ebay and the seller had a great rep.

I have some Cleveland Classics 10th Anniversary..(80's vintage I think)..but they really used the best wood for those 10th anniversary models.. still always looking for 693 and M85's as well.. Yes I keep a vinatge bag in play from time to time.

I really, really want to try one out next year! I have a set of Wilson Sam Snead Blue ridge irons, circa 1958. I just need some woods. It's tough to find clubs in reasonable shape because I play LH.

the seller had a mint set of 693s. , all original grips and shafts. I almost got that set. I know the cleveland driver your talking about. Beautiful.

 

I am going to put together a vintage bag. I was just telling my wife. I want to play the course I did as a kid, a short 9 hole course with the old clubs sometime. They way golf was meant to be played.

 

Yes, my plan is to put together a vingate bag. A bag that you would have seen in the early 80s and then play the muni course I did growin up as a kid. I think i have some old titleist balls laying around. Gotta love it.

What's the model#? I have a basement full of old clubs. I'm ancient, so grew up playing MacGregors.

 

I have a vintage Wilson persimmon that has the most shape and grain.

I hate to admit it but I played a set like that. I think if I dig hard enough in the "relic pile" I'll probably find my old set. Nothing like the sweet feel of persimmon. :)

I'm looking at ebay for some old persimmons - Hogans if possible. Just picked up a Staff persimmon driver at at thrift shop for $3. Just needs a new grip and it's playable.

yeah, almost had my hands on a nice M85W driver last week on ebay for 100 bucks, but I didn't bid high enough. It went for about 100 bucks. It was very nice. I love that stuff. I have a friend who's a pro and he's got about 4 or 5 great refinished McGregs, M85, 945 in mint condition. I also have a friend who has a M85 3 wood that Faldo used in college. He played on the same team.

Here's my M65W I've had several years. Also have the 3 & 5 to go along with it. With original shafts. Now talk about clubs that setup square to open. All the old persimmons of yesteryear were setup the way we pray for today.

thats a beauty., nice driver. I remember that set very well. Circa early 1980s. Gotta love the old persimmon clubs.
