Can't cut and paste, but it's contained on his site. Evidently he had left knee surgery today...

I noticed him getting help out of the bunker, but didn't think anything of it.

Wow- If i remember correctly it took him quite awhile to fully recover and trust his knee entirely and even longer before he was steadily back in the hunt(I think he won the Buick right away and then it seemed to take the rest of the year for him to really do much else....good for the field....) I just wonder how he was planning to do this IF he had won the Masters and continue the Tigerslam....?

I kinda wondered if he was hurt or exhausted now I know. I feel for him and can relate as I tore mine hitting out of the rough on a severe downhill lie and have no insurance and it is sure getting to be a nuisance.

I would really be interested to know what procedure he had done. That would tell a lot more on how long he will take to recover.

Arthroscopic. It's minimally invasive, so the entire knee doesn't have to be opened up. There's two small cuts in the knee, one for the camera, and one for the tools (Mom had it done a few years back). It took her about 2 months to get up and around normally.

Arthroscopic surgery is NOT the kind of thing you "decide on" on a monday and have done on a tuesday.

He's probably been putting it off till after the masters and not telling anyone because you know all he would have heard about for the last 3 weeks is "hows the knee?". This way, it was a non-issue till after the tournament was over and done.

I think he announced it now so people will have an excuse for him on why he did not come thru this past weekend. Then again it wasn't shots, but putts that cost him a real chance at the green jacket. Too bad. Was pulling for him.

Umm... yeah I'm sure that's it. He needed an excuse so he chose to have surgery on his knee and miss a month or so of play. Sure he did.

I guess it has been a problem and his loss allowed a chance to get it repaired right away. He may have been planning it all along, or he may have made the decision once the calendar slam was out of the question.

You know, this might be the thing that stops him from history.

Hes had the left knee scoped 3 times already now. That thing is gonna be spaghetti by the time he hits his 40s...

Maybe, but this is when conditioning comes into play. He's in awesome shape and will do wonders in helping him recover and strengthen the knee up.

Yeah, I knew it was arthroscopic but there are a number of different procedures they can do when performing an arthroscopy. (menisectomy, meniscal repair, microfracture, etc.) My question was more asking which of these they performed.

Actually, an arthoscopy is something that can be scheduled very quickly, especially for elite athletes. When I spent time at the Hospital for Special Surgery, who does the treatment for the Mets, one of the players came in to get an MRI one day after injuring himself, and the surgery was performed the following day. Now I'm not saying that did happen with Woods, but it is possible that he really aggrevated it badly at Augusta and he saw the doctor on Monday, and the surgery was scheduled for Tuesday. Of course this is all speculation.

My father is 76. He hurt his knee 2 Saturdays ago playing tennis. Limped over to my cousin's on Sunday b/c Advil wasn't helping and my cousin scheduled the surgery for Monday afternoon. He was in and out (scoped for torn meniscus) and home Monday night. Walking around albeit limping a little by that Wednesday - he doesn't like pain killers, but not excruciating pain he said. Was putting and chipping this afternoon. :-)

He looked pretty uncomforatable at the Masters. I thought he looked a little sick, I guess he was just in a lot of pain. If the guy wanted an out on losing, he would have taken it in. What he did was suck it up and compete. Not a big Tiger guy, but a bad knee hurts like hell and I hope he gets back out there.
