Pet peeves...

Recommended Posts

Earl Woods used to jingle change in his pocket, move, talk and commit just about every infraction mentioned here, Tiger seems to have made it through it OK. When I am playing with these folks, I have fun with it, make it a challenge...

Maybe Earl should have taken a camera and snapped the shutter on Tiger's backswing to teach him to deal with that.

I agree. I'm so sick of hearing that story because either it never really happened, or it didn't help Tiger at all. He seems to be annoyed by every slight noise or movement.

Neither of you obviously have ever seen Tiger play in person (and are haters)... his galleries are total zoos... people moving, pushing, shoving, talking, jumping up and down to get a peek... amazing he can keep his concentration. When you see him stop or back off, it is only when the EXTREMELY CLUELESS do their thing. If he stopped for every noise, movement or camera he'd never hit a shot...

Earl's change jingling, coughing, talking; all that is very true I personally know 2 people who used to play with them at the Navy course (Destroyer) in Seal Beach every week. He did it, you can forget about doubting that anymore.

In contrast, I find it funny when Joe Rabbitears shanks one and then blames some noise from 3 holes away... concentration of a gnat...

Yes, how dare we say anything that can somehow be misconstrued as negative towards Tiger. That makes us haters.

I don't doubt the story, I'm just sick of hearing about it because it obviously didn't do anything. I've seen Tiger in person, and when he hits, he gets the same courtesy as every other player, most people stop moving around.

I've also seen Tiger step away and glare at people, and I've seen Stevie yelling at spectators for having the audacity to not stand perfectly still. I'm sure Earl had good intentions when he was jiggling his keys, but it's perfectly obvious to anyone that it just didn't work. Tiger does not block out distractions any better than any other touring pro.

I have to call BS on this... if you had really seen Tiger play in person which you obviously have not (I am guessing you have never been to a tour event in person)... you could not have this opinion. He puts up with more crap than anyone else on tour by several orders of magnitude... I don't like Steve BTW... he is a freaking caddy... who makes more money than most players... and acts the a**. But I was only talking about TW not Steve... not sure what he has to do with this at all..

You HONESTLY think TW does not block things out better than any other player on tour?

No offense; but your conclusion is ridiculous... Sorry.

I have to call BS on your BS (which isn't difficult because your BS keeps piling up). I've been to the Disney Funai Classic (or whatever it's called nowadays) three times, and followed Tiger around twice.

Tiger doesn't block out things any better than anyone else, he makes 12 foot putts better than anyone else. That's why he's the best.

Wow, I was just trying to make a funny and I get accused of being a hater. Little quick on the trigger there lbb, when I'm hating it will be obvious. I'm as big a TW fan as the next guy.

You're right, I've never seen Tiger in person, I've only watched on TV. I've watched a lot of other golfers on TV too, with huge galleries in huge events. Off the top of my head, Tiger and Steve are the only ones I recall getting super upset with the gallery on several different occasions. I know, TV coverage shows TW more than any other player so there's a better chance of seeing him blow up. In any event, I don't care if the Earl story is true, I don't care if TW blows up at the gallery, I was just making the observation that Tiger doesn't like cameras clicking on his backswing.

Hey! Stop hating on Bubba Watson like that! :man_in_love:

"Rabbitears" - I assumed he was talking about Rory.

people who are oblivious to others and think they are the only ones on the course.

This is a pet peeve for life in general, not just the golf course: "oblivions".

I can't stand people who go crazy every time they are within 5 feet of the fairway, or hit a green. The only times there should be yelling are holes in one, or FORE.

Also, the rest of the course does not need to hear your conversations. If you need to raise your voice to tell Jimmy about your barbecue last night, move closer or wait until you are closer to talk about it. Or better yet, the 19th hole.

Slow play and lack of etiquette are huge and been mentioned many times. But high scores do not necessarily equate to slow play. At my old club, I used to be in the second tee time. 3 women took the first one, and we gladly gave it to them, because 3 hours to play 18 holes would be very slow for them. One of them, who is a very nice lady, couldn't break 100 to save her life. But they moved. We never waited on them. So why can they move and all these other people can't? They walked, as well.
