Hole-outs from the fairway!!!

First real round of golf last year - par 5

About a 120 yards out and hit a 7 iron with a callaway warbird landed right in front of the pin and one hopped in. Too bad it was for a 8. My buddy who i was playing with would not verify it unless i let him have a par..@SS hole.

 

this summer..I was walking in from about 15..too hot out and no one was on 18 so i played it on my way in with a coverless HX Tour I found in a lake. I was 180 out and hit a high 6 iron expecting it to land on the front of the green. It hit the front and released all the way to the back and rolled in. It was perfect because the head pro and my dad were talking on the patio as it fell in. Beautiful.

I have had lots (including a hole-in-one), but the best was a 165 yard 6 Iron for eagle in a club tournament. I was so pumped after the eagle that I duffed my tee shot on the next hole (a par 3). However, I holed my next shot on the par 3 from 120 years with a Pitching Wedge for birdie! Needless to say, I won the tournament.

I haven't been blessed with several hole-outs in my golfing career- I've only got 1 from any significant distance. Here's the story:

 

August 2007- At my home course, holes 1 and 5 are easy birdie holes. I played the front nine in 33 strokes, 2 under par, with par on the 2 easiest holes. Birdie on 2, birdie on 6, and 7 pars. Par on the difficult 10th. I've never been bogey free through 10- I've done it through 9 a handful of times, but 10 is a tough hole so it usually ended there. 11, I screw up, and I'm hitting my 3rd to the par 4 from 81 yards. I need to get this up and down to keep my bogey-free round alive. I hole it

 

Get to -3 through 11.

F***ed up hole 12 right after from the fairway though- made bogey.

Par'd out though for a round of 2 under 69

Which to date, is my lowest round (and 1 of only 5 par-or-better rounds in my life -> one 2 under, two 1 unders, and 2 evens).

Here's my near miss about 3 weeks ago. How the heck did this one stay out of the hole ? :shout:

 

 

 

 

This pic is taken from the left side of the hole. This ball was trackin the center of the pin all the way! 132 yards with a smooth pw and it hit the edge of the cup and ricocheted 20 feet to the right :vava: I've had a hole-in-one but not a hole-out from the fairway... This has happened several times in the past :vava:

Not a hole out, but funny story, well not for him.... Played in a Ryder Cup format tournament here yesterday, South Carolina vs Clemson rivalry thing. Anyway, we play 2 man best ball teams match play. We have a short par 4, no more than about 340 or so, with the 2nd shot over water to a wicked back to front slope green and they are FAST right now. Opponent hits it to about 4 feet behind the hole, but looks like it's on the lip from our angle. My partner has a little bump wedge in, it tracks the whole way, clips the pin on the way down, hits about a foot behind the hole, spins back, hits the pin AGAIN, goes in the water. So we have mulligans and crap in this tourney, he takes his, hits it about 20 feet long and left. Putts it........................ into the water!!!!!!!!!! You could have fried eggs on his forehead he was so hot... I laughed like hell. We still won the match.
