So the Callaway X Hot Pro hybrid was a one round failed experiment, tried the X 2 hot pro, it was miles bettter, going to get that instead

Did you get the TMAG irons yet? Intersted to hear what you have to say. Regarding Callaway X Hot fairways and hybrids, you are not the first "good player" that liked them in a range or Trackman and they just didn't work on the course. I hope you have better luck with the X2.

Hopefully the RSI's ship next week, did get some honest answers and follow up this weekend which was nice. (long story) The original X hot was ordered on a whim without actually hitting it, big mistake. The PXV shaft is way too light so is the club head, just could not feel it in my swing. The X2Hot has less offset plus a better, heavier shaft and better feel to it. just a much better club overall and more along the lines of what I was looking for. Tried to save a few bucks by going to the original Xhot, bad idea but I will only be out $10 on the return so not a huge loss.

The OG hybrid is out after 6-7 years of being in the bag replaced by X2 Hot Pro 18* much higher flight which I needed and the only thing I need to figure out is if it is too long and creates a gap from my 4 iron, I might need to go down to a 20* to keep the yardages where I want them.

Hybrid experiment may continue, I really like the X2 Hot Pro 18* but it actually might be too long for me I might end up going down to a 20*. Im torn on this though unfortunately I play quite a few par 3's 215+ and the 18* is perfect for those but I just cannot seem to back off it and hit it shorter like I could with the Adams. This puts me in a tough spot when I have to carry a hazard and a 4 iron might be too risky.

Bittersweet day my long trusted 9064 is being replaced.

Picked up a black R15 460 today but also will be doing a fitting at Ping soon for the new G series driver to see which one wins out.

Little bit of both really, just not getting the numbers that it used to for me. It has been a great driver no doubt but much like a working girl its taken too many balls to the face.

 

With a few different heads I have tried I have been in the area of + 6-10 yards carry and +15-20 total distance for me right now that is a huge difference especially in the winter when its cold.

Thanks ordered it clean since i wasn't sure about the grind ended up loving it.

 

 

R15 may be a short lived experiment. Hit 6 fairways today which is probably my lowest in 3 years. Gonna tweak the settings a little more and give it a couple more rounds.

Brought the R15 closer to nuetral from lofted up and closed played a 2nd round with it. Much better performance this time. 325 wind aided 304 cross wind and the one that impressed me the most was 275 into wind dead center fairway. Still missed left a couple shots early in the round but vastly improved from round 1.

Well the R15 experiment went horribly wrong. The round posted above was really the only good round I had with it. I probably kept it longer than I should have since I did post a -1 round at Grayhawk even though I drove it awful.

 

10.5* Aeroburner TP in. Going with the stock white tie for right now. Ball flight is high enough I might end up throwing the devotion in it to bring flight and spin down a hair. Numbers were about +10 carry and +12-15 total distance over the R15 with peak trajectory at 28 yards a full 10 yards over the same lofted R15. Most importantly the ball flight was a consistent 5-10 yard cut vs two way miss with the R15

 

Can't believe I am now playing a white driver though. Could not find a used one in black.

Posted the first reply when i was still on the course. To give a little more detail

 

Aeroburner

Better peak height by at least 5-10 yard

Better feel

Better control once i had a few holes with it to get a better feel it was baby fades all day could hit it straight or turn it over just a touch. Miles better than what i was getting out of the R15

Distance wise better than the R15

 

Overall with some swing changes I'm working on my ss is down about 5mph. It's a struggle because the new swing is technically better but my hip/core strength is not good enough to get the most out of it with driver right now. My old move was a big hip slide and push of ground to generate power. When it was timed right it was longer but the misses were awful.

 

I've started up my hip phys therapy routine agaim to rebuild strength the odd thing is I'm hitting my mid/short irons as long as i ever have. Once i get stronger the long clubs should follow when i can handle more resistance/tourqe.

 

In the meantime i just need to stick to 66-6800 yard tees

After a very up and down (pun intended) journey with my Vokey TVD M grind I have finally ordered its replacement

 

 

I hit some great shots with the M and it is fantastic in firm conditions however for my steepish swing in average conditions it just dug to much and was super punishing on the slightest of mis-hits.

The V grind is intriguing to me with the higher bounce profile when set up square and the trailing edge relief to open it up to hit the flop style shots. I think and am hoping this will be the happy medium I was looking for in my 60*

Redid the paint on my wedges, stripped the oil can off of the new V grind and the black ion off the TVD 56 Grind. The 52 still looked really sharp with the back ox so I left it alone and just did the paint.

Couple updates/thoughts

 

1: the Aeroburner TP is an absolute winner for my swing. It's been a long time since I've been this happy with my driver ballflight and consistency.

 

2: the Vokey V grind is miles better than the M for my swing. I'm still able to open it up for flop type shots and it digs much less on square shots giving me a bigger margin of error. A little better out of bunkers too

A little being in the dry air in AZ slows it down a lot. There is some rust starting on the sole and lower face of the 60 and 56. I'm headed over to Hawaii in about a month that should accelerate the rust.
