thats what i was thinking, black putter head with a black shaft, but i PM'ed Mr. Kwok about it and he said that the shaft woulb be to stiff for a putter.

 

and yes i was the sucker that ended up with it.

Awsome work, but it's a shame you could not save the graphics on the bottom! Seems like the value would be sacrificed a lot. I think I would have just paint filled the graphics and left the texture, but that's just me. Kinda like hand peening a Lux putter. Hey, it's your putter and if you like it, that's all that matters. Congrats!

The sole plate is a whole new piece that Ben had custom made, just for this project. The original is still intact and remains as it was in the "before" pics. The weight was a factor with keeping the original sole plate in place, as well. It is tipping the scales now at a hefty 359 grams and could be easily brought down to 350, with some simple milling on the underside of the new plate.

I am not quite sure what was meant by the hand peening a LUX putter, but like you said, if Ben is happy and the general consensus is good, I'll go with it.

As far as value on this one goes, do you honestly believe that the motive here was to maintain the "value" on a Red X? I am not positive, but the market on this putter isn't exactly a collector's haven.

I think that the putter was taken from Hound to Hottie and will see some serious game time in Ben's bag, and rightly so. That was the basis for the whole project. I just can't wait to hear how it rolls the ball and what Ben thinks once it is home again.

Many thanks from me and my crew here to Ben for allowing me to work on this putter as time permitted and for giving me the chance to make a difference in the life of another lost putter sole.

I don't know...I have one in my gamer and I love it. I'm in Texas right now, but I'll send you one to try when I get home and you can judge it for yourself. Worst case..You don't like it. LOL

I've seen this putter before it was sent out, heck even rolled a few putts with it and I'll admit, I was extremely hesitant as to what you'd be able to pull out on this one LaMont...but you've done it. Excellent job! Can't wait to see what it looks like in person. That must be the black polymer finish, is that correct? Torched insert? All turned out amazing for sure. just recieved this putter yesterday, and all i can say is that the pictures on here dont do it justice at all. the way the color pops of the face is amazing!!

 

Hopefully i can get a black chrome wedge shaft, then finish her off with a Gripmaster camo grip and she'll be all set!!

Im in the similar boat as you. I also have Red X2 and Im getting it refinished to black.

I honestly thought of black shaft as well, but I didn't want to change the way SC was setup.

I was even thinking of spray-painting the shaft with black chrome.. hmm..

i putted with it today and the stock chrome shaft really pops out on this one, i def. need to get a black chrome shaft for it.

not sure really, but me and some friends figured it was thrown into a pond and was left there for a couple years, then one of those ball retriever guys found it and put it up on ebay.
