100yds from rough- 56deg Cleveland CG10 2 dot

Other lies, under trees, or downhill obviously would vary club and swing, but mostly the 56 and 50

Don't lie to use the wedge with more bounce from fairway as a beginning golfer for fear of hitting thin

3/4 52* low spinner that hits once and stops. this is my favorite shot to hit and im deadly accurate with that shot

Funny posting...for me anways.

 

On the range today I had a flag lasered at 101. I usually hit a 56 here but for some reason today I kept over lofting it and just couldnt stop coming up 20 yards short.....it was driving me nutso but we all know the more we try something on the range...the less closer you get to your objective sometimes.

 

I switched to hitting full 8 irons for a half dozen shots or so, looked at the 100y pin...opened up the 8 and striped the flag over and over and over with a shiteload of spin nestling the crappy range ball right up next to the pin.....weird....Im weird...wish I could do that on the course.

I hit all my short irons a long way, I am steep and trap them, just the way it is

My LW is 60 but next year I'll be 57 and 62 so more options from inside 100

I am working on being one iron shorter ie 7i that goes 170 vs 180

It's a smooth 56 degree for me. But I've been trying to be able to use 52s,Ps, and even sometimes 9s to hit from 100 yards on the range.

full LW is 103 so that is the std answer

Into the wind I can hit a 85% 54* or when it is howling or the pin way back a knock down chasing 50*

If you are hitting a LW (60-62*) club 103 yards then you are swinging wayyyy too hard to a wedge, or taking loft of the club. That just is not really possible nor should you want to do that.

 

I used to hit a 56* 105 yards and the pro tore me up for swinging my wedge so hard.

My teaching pro asked my why i would try to hit my wedges that hard when i have so many other clubs i could swing easier.

All about the percentages - whip out the 52 and take it back 3/4s swing smoothly - use the scoring clubs to score. Stepping on a 60 is low percentage for the simple fact it could spin a mile or if you're a hair off, very little. I shaved several strokes from my scores after I stopped worrying about trying to welt the loftiest club I could at any pin!

probablly a 3 quater Pitching Wedge, i'd struggle to get my 52* wedge there every time

there are so many ways even though I can hit my 56 there I am deadly with 48 Mizuno PW taking it back to 9 and then full speed to 3 and it bounces once and locks up.

 

My advice is to hit the club you can hit that distance close, no the club you can hit that distance.
