Prices on new prov1

The MAP is $45.99 according to the Titleist website (MSRP $58).

Why bother ewven posting that? No one is paying attention to reality and it is funny to see everyone get all worked up.

For your information, the price that WAS shown on GPPGolf.com was much more than the $45.99 that is currently shown. That's why this thread was started and why people were commenting on the price.

I'll let you know when you give me some new information. Everyone knows retailers can set their own prices (to some degree). Just bc one online retailer (that frequently has sales) puts them for sale at a higher price (before anyone else even has them for sale) doesn't mean that will be the price. I am not talking about the OP. It has been posted, and most with common sense realize, the price at most retailers will be the MAP of 45.99 which is .99 more than the old ones. That has been posted in here and people are still whining about the list price and gpp's price.

Those of us with common sense realize that the price for the old ones is $39.99 or less now. The new one is $45.99, and according to Titleist, there is no real difference between the balls. If you want to pay $6 per dozen more for basically the same ball, then that's your prerogative. Have fun with it!

Did you really think Titleist would price their new model at the discounted price of the old, outgoing model?

No, but when there's virtually no difference between the outgoing and incoming models, why would someone pay the extra $6? If I absolutely had to have the Titleist ball, then I would just stock up on the outgoing ball and save some cash. The outgoing ball has been good enough for 2 of the 3 PGA Tour wins so far.

They could price them at $30 a dozen and I still wouldn't play them. But you can spend whatever you want on them. It's your money....enjoy!

How would you know if there is a difference in feel to you if you never even play the new ones. I'd rather find out for myself than "save my money" just bc some guy on the internet (who doesn't play one and hasn't played the other) says they're the same. You sure seem to worry a lot about what others do with their money. Why is that?

We Bridgestone players just want you to save your money and buy a ball that's just as good but less expensive so you can spend your money on something else to help the economy. :cheesy:

I'm not worried at all with how you spend your money. In fact, go buy sleeves at $18 each from the local high end resort course if you wish.

I feel that there are a few tour level balls that I could play any day and get just about the same result. Therefore I've decided to draw a line in the sand and say that I won't pay $46 a dozen. That's my choice. If you want to pay that, go right ahead.

My initial reply to your post was simply to point out that a retailer had this ball listed for a price quite a bit higher than the MAP. This thread was started as a discussion about that topic, but has somehow morphed into a discussion on different topics.

Like I wrote earlier, have fun playing the ball!

This from the Titleist Website,

Availability and Price: The New Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls begin shipping to golf shops in mid-February, with a suggested retail price of $58 per dozen (MAP: $45.99). Both models will be sold in traditional dozen and three-ball sleeves. Play numbers 5-8 also will be available in addition to the traditional 1-4.
